Video: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Cast Interviews

by | March 23, 2016 | Comments

RT Senior Editor Grae Drake talked to the cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Holly Hunter, Diane Lane, and director Zack Snyder) about who they would choose as President in a Batman v Superman election, and their preference on a variety of versus. Then we talked about body scans, not getting to drive the Batmobile, seeing Wonder Woman for the first time, and how Larry Fishburne became Laurence.

  • Michael Lee

this movie is good don’t listen to those lame ass critics

    • Jake Lastimosa

Don’t listen to MICHEAL LEE! Don’t WASTE YOUR MONEY!! This is a money grab to build a franchise! I got SUCKERpunched again by Zack Snyder!!!

    • NJ

I’ve seen it and didn’t think it was that good. Does that make me a lame critic? Or maybe someone with an honest opinion. smh

      • Michael Lee

I really don’t care what that makes you

      • Manoj Varughese

You are a lame ass critic

      • Prime

lmfao! you’re no critic. BvS was easily much better than those lame kindergarten marvel movies.

        • DangerClose

And then some. I like that this film was unapologetic to, it was more for the fans that mass audiences.

        • theClownPrinceOfTrolls

Batman v. Superman debuted with a whopping $82M on Friday, but it could only muster $37M on Sunday. That’s a drop of 55%, which is the worst Friday-to-Sunday drop in North American box office history for a superhero movie. The previous record was 48%, set last year by Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot.

You might be thinking that Sunday was the Easter holiday, which could account for the big Sunday drop. But that still wouldn’t explain the Friday-to-Saturday decline of 38%, which was the second worst opening Friday-to-Saturday drop in the annals of superhero releases, after a 40% dip

          28% critics 72%audience rotflmao …….

    • Zuoosh

Quit hyping the dog shit lame ass movie. So disappointing.

    • Ken Fox

Been a comic and “hero” fan since I was a kid. The audience clapped today when I watched it and you could even here some crying at a few moments. Nothing will make everyone happy but this is way better and made for fans my age compared to Avengers. Thought it was awesome. If you people don’t like the “far out concepts” or even some “cheesy” aspects of it then I’m baffled you went to see a movie about superheroes. What were you expecting? Never mind – don’t answer. I don’t care. The movie was beyond any reasonable expectation unless you’re just a weirdo Marvel devotee.

      • Michael Lee

        Well said I totally agree👍

      • Andrea Grajales

        I couldn’t have said it better 👌🏽

      • Paul

        As a fan, i agree!

    • Farter

It’s average and worth a matinee ticket price but nothing more than that unfortunately. It’s too comic book like. The adaptation is too literal and does not work well on screen.

  • Cynical observer

Was there ever a more stupid concept for a movie . . unless maybe it’s something like Godzilla vs King Kong? (Oh, wait, they already made that one in 1962!)

    • effingreat

      AHAHA AHAHAHA

  • Jake Lastimosa

Michael Lee was probably paid by DC! Movie sucks!

    • Michael Lee

Yeah I was paid by dc dumbass

  • Jordan B

It was actually a great film, mostly stuck to the comics which i rate, but had a great twist to it aswell, thats my opinion and im sticking with it

    • Zuoosh

What exactly was the twist again? Lois begging batman not to spear superman by saying Martha… Granted that was a shock to me not know that both batman and supermans mothers were both named Martha. But if you couldn’t see some miraculous event to uniting them both, then your just as foolish as myself and anyone else who payed to see a decent CGI movie effect.

  • Cody

    Great movie and brilliant actors
I have no idea what people are talking about when they say it’s bad

    • Daniel

Worst movie of the year so far

      • Prime

        no, that’ll be civil war.

They’re just a bunch of marvelzombies out to bash DC. I cant believe those “critics” would actually rate BvS way lower than that garbage they call age of Ultron. Well its more like week of lametron! Lmfao! The critics are so biased. I guess they (“critics”) need a marvel logo and a crapload of cheesy one-liners for them to consider a movie to be good now…smh

    • Farter

It’s not very character driven unfortunately and the characters are very comic book like. The adaptation is too literal in my opinion. It’s still a decent movie but not on par with Batman Begins and Dark Knight.

      • NJ

Exactly. Which is ALL I’m saying. You can tell who the crazy DC fanboys are on here defending the film like their getting paid or something. lol

  • Zuoosh

Honestly this movie sucked straight dog shit. Unless you wanna see a okay cgi film, don’t waste your money. Anyone who says it is good or great, they don’t know of good films and are just tchnology impressed by the cgi effects. I’d rate the film 5.5 with cgi effects I’ll give it a 8 but losis lane had more screen time then both batman vs superman combine. Don’t even get me started on Aquaman or Cyborg. Lex Luther I believe did stand tall and held his own. All hype, cgi action only, waste of money, Civil War all day.

    • Zuoosh

      Technology*

      • Timesplitt

        Losis lane

    • Faraz

you could simply say your a marvel fan 🙂

    • Prime

lmfao! Your opinion now means nothing after you ended with “civil war all day”. you’re just a biased marvelzombie out to bash DC. civil war is such a stupid concept. all that “war” within the avengers just because cap and bucky are in love with each other…? Lmfao! just let iron man take bucky in and end it. nuff said! a bunch of needless fighting. marvel just crammed their most lame heroes in civil war and called it a movie. its suppose cap solo film, but its more like avengers on steroids. how many heroes in civil war? like 15? that’s overkill! its more like avengers 2.5! hahaha! and they shoehorn in like 2 characters in each of their movies and call it established. you marvelzombies consider everything marvel makes gold. the only thing they made that was any good was winter soldier. marvel makes nothing but lame kindergarten movies filled with cheesy one-liners every 10 seconds. DC>marvel

    • Faraz

better than iron man .. I must say

  • Corey Spirit-Fingers

Just saw this dumpster fire…. fcku this movie!

  • Tt

Loved Superman, batman needs a padded room and a psychological evaluation. Wonder Woman is beautiful and intelligent. Lex should join Batman in that padded room. Lex was just awful. The movie was decent. Plot line was choppy. The beginning is coherent. The middle to end was a disaster. Lois Lane had to much screen time without Superman.
Superman can’t die. Hated the end.

  • Vitto Filardich

This is a great movie. Snyder was trying to bring a new concepts of Batman as a more human, not super detectives (ben affleck are superb!) but suddenly people with so many Oscar movies in their head came out and ambush this movie with a very inappropriate comments. Of course there are a view mistakes, but that’s just all. What do you expecting from superheroes movie? An Oscar winning quality? Even Marvel cannot do it. Even avatar cannot win it. So wake up from your dream and enjoy this movie or get lost!

  • Faraz

Loving this movie almost as much as I had set my expectations 🙂 cant wait for Batman to have his own Trilogy,Justice League – Flash – Lantern AND WM 🙂

  • Tony

I just watched the incredibly stupid new movie, “Batman v Superman”. Zack Snyder should be punished for directing such a piece of trash. The world in general should be punished for fueling these superhero films. I should be punished for having bought a ticket.

I saw it with my girlfriend, whose native language is not English. Realizing that she probably didn’t understand it, I turned to her about halfway through and explained that even I did not understand it – her confusion was not based on any lack of English comprehension. Scene after scene unrolled with no connection to the one before it. At the end, the wonder woman-type character had never even been identified. And there was a weird merman shown in an unexplained surveillance video clip, who was also never identified, and who had nothing to do with the movie. The characters had zero depth. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor made me want to become a movie director, just so I could someday fire him, as retroactive punishment for this performance. This genre is stupid the majority of the time lately, and this flick made it worse. The true sadness is the waste of time and money. Studios can bring important messages to the world, but instead they turn out incoherent crap like this which they know will sell because they slap a superhero name on it.

A point of interest is that the movie lines incessantly compare superheros to gods, and God. By retelling superhero stories again and again (this movie again wastes many minutes of our lives with yet another portrayal of Bruce Wayne’s parents’ murders) comic book writers are indeed trying to elevate their creations to the status of the divine. Thought-provoking as this is, it can’t justify a viewing of this movie, because the audience can get the same effect by reading the above sentences, and then watching a youtube video of a fireworks display instead of subjecting themselves to the CGI pyrotechnics of Hollywood’s latest cinematic fart.

  • Can’t wait for “The Avengers vs. Justice League” movie.

  • Steelty

I’m so sick of seeing the fanboy bull everywhere saying the critics are attacking it, and that you shouldn’t listen to them because the movie was awesome. The critics are doing their job, and this movie was garbage. GARBAGE. I’m a Superman fan. I loved Returns when I first saw it, and then later felt I wanted to see something better. I loved Man of Steel, while knowing it was flawed, but Batman v Superman? This movie was an abomination to every character involved. The story was everywhere, with a million excuses to do this or that, with no substance, no character depth, and everything was just stupid. It opened great, but then just dragged and inserted a million different plot points and random dumb unnecessary scenes, horrible CGI, and I never thought I would say this about a Snyder movie, but horrible fight scenes. I think if you like this you should also check out “The Amazing Spiderman 2,” “Teenage Mutant Nijna Turtles” (2014), and “Terminator Genisys.” Oh, and you might like “Spiderman 3” too.

    • Prime

it easily better than those lame kindergarten movies that marvel makes.

The critics have it at 30% rotten, and the fans are saying they’re wrong, and whining about it, but it’s at 73% with the audience, and steadily declining. Is the audience wrong too? Right, everyone is wrong because you just want to like this stupid movie. Come back after you’ve seen it a few more times, and some time has gone by so your retarded fandom can come down off it’s high, and then we’ll hear about how much this movie didn’t live up to your expectations.

  • Sb

Well done Snider, Affleck, Cahill, Adams & Co. Looking forward to the next one!

  • Dexter Vilain

It’s a great comic book movie. Don’t expect Shakespeare in the park. It makes me think of the scene in “birdman” where Michael Keaton gives the critic his 2 cents. What does it take on someone’s like to become a critic? Anyway, like I said great comic book move and was more than pleased with Aflack as batman/Wayne. Story was good and so were the casting decisions. Go and enjoy the movie!

  • Prime

I give it a solid 8 outta 10. definitely got the DCEU rolling to a good start. Snyder brought a little bit of Frank miller’s TDK Returns and The Death of Superman to live-action. while introducing WW, Lex, and a new Batman. And also setting up the Justice League. Not at all easy to do. But he did a GREAT job! BvS was Awesome!

I can see why people are divided over this, same as Man of Steel. In fact, if you throw some wonder woman and batman in man of steel, it has a similar tone. I cant explain it, but you feel like this is a sequel, not a completely far out concept so If you liked the first one you will like this.

    The Good:
    – Batman (by far the best batman I have ever since, besides Kevin Conroy)
-The Fight scenes, not many but very well scripted and directed.
-Cinematography, camera work is awesome in some sequences and its just nice to stare.
-The Story, Sure there are holes, but I like how everything came together, no wasting time on back story, just shows you why they hated each other and why they stopped fighting. They were both influenced by Luthor and other things that were going on.
-The characters are true to who they are and react how you would expect.

    The Bad:
    – very slow sometimes, gets boring because you are waiting for the build up (basically Poorly paced)
-Gets preachy and Philosophical instead of just getting to the point
    – had too much of a traditional “just wait till the last half hour and it gets good” i would rather have a few small battles spread out throughout instead of one big sequence at the end
-The team up happened a bit quick, but I guess its hard to think of another way to do it.

I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, I felt like they did the Characters justice (no pun intended).
On the other hand, it was long, cluttered, and the whole justice league setup was kind of a throw in when they could have sprinkled those components in. I feel like you are being force fed stuff at times instead of just having it flow naturally.

By no means a bad movie, not even a bad super hero flick. I really loved it. I would see it again and the last hour was Tense! with a few minor adjustments it would have been perfect.

8/10 for me. If it were less scattered and plotted out better i would go 10.

  • theblackrider138

Oh for fck sakes. All these super hero movies are just stupid guilty pleasures. A temporary amusement to distract ourselves from the bullshit of reality. I don’t think any of these movies are anything more than an hour or three of fun and entertainment. I like the more serious darker tone of DC movies and I don’t complain about the campy fun Marvel movies. In the end I enjoy watching each one regardless! Wait… well except for Iron Man 3. I liked the 1987 original version better. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover did a much better acting job.

Marvel and DC movei Plot holes? Yeah they are everywhere IN EVERY comic hero movie! No one will ever make a super hero film that will have a story to compare to any of the really good comic series/graphic novels of both Marvel or DC, Nobody. And why all this talk about character development??? We all know or are at least familiar with many of these heroes back stories already. I am quite sure I am not the only person who would rather not see Uncle Ben getting shot again and again.

If you think you can do a better job writing, directing and producing one of these movies get yourself to film school because I really need you to get a Cerebus movie made. So stop crying and having fits on your keyboard, I need these movies. I will legitimately watch every single Marvel and DC movie with a huge smile on my face. I mean when Diana Prince gets into the fight and has a go at (crappy) Doomsday I literally forgot I suffer from manic depression and had a smile ear to ear. I knocked over my whiskey spiked Coka Cola and was giggling like a 8 year old kid!

  • BX_ ADIGGZ

Uuuuumm….. People are always going to find something they don’t like. This movie was amazing in my opinion!!!! Waaaaay better than avengers!!! Ben Afleck made me feel he was Batman. I’d pay to go see it again!

  • Pinkk

For all the bad reviews, I think one thing the actors involved in the film can take away from it, is they all seemed to have been given praise for their acting. It was the script itself that was getting bad reviews.

  • snam

Gritty, fun, moving at times, powerful and gorgeous
imagery… this movie was awesome! I cannot understand the critics’ abysmal ratings. This film had an actual story… like a beginning, middle and an end… and it was interesting. Every scene moved the story along and none of the action seemed irrelevant to the plot. unlike avengers, every single star felt critical to the plot and carried the story along and i was invested in their stories. as for effects driven action movie… seriously? how in the world did these same reviewers give avengers an 82%? I feel like the reviews got mixed up. Anyhow, rant done… this movie rocked…
    peace

  • snam

ps. for the person who said too comic book like… seriously? that’s what made it great… it had all of the elements that made these characters and stories come to life with awe inspiring imagery. if you don’t get it… well, isn’t that punishment enough.

  • Mathias Kapono II

Almost all people should agree that a rose is beautiful if it really is. This hyped movie is just dumb and boring.

  • Christine Lanzisera

👎 I was so disappointed for one who they chose for Wonder Woman one because she had a couple scenes she can’t act and my opinion didn’t fit the role. Her costume was so dark and dreary and could of had more color and shine. Lex Luthor acted more like the joker it just didn’t seem original to me and the story was so slow moving.

  • Francisco Pacho Javier Alvarez

With all due respect for everyone who loves this movie … just remember … Martha …
