In light of recent RT server problems, here’s a gift from us to you: the newly updated "DOA: Dead or Alive" photo gallery! Browse pics of the five lethal leading ladies in all their high-kicking, sword-wielding, tequila-drinking action…and yes, there are bikinis.

Although there isn’t yet an official synopsis, anyone who’s ever played the "DOA: Dead or Alive" video games knows the gist of the story. The annual "Dead Or Alive" martial arts tournament is being held in an exotic locale, and competitors from across the globe enter, for various personal reasons…

"DOA" appears to be, like the video-game that inspired it, a tongue-in-cheek martial arts action piece with five really hot women (Jaime Pressly, Devon Aoki, Sarah Carter, Holly Valance, and Natassia Malthe). This international quintet (from the US, Canada, Australia and Norway) is directed by legendary stuntman/choreographer Corey Yuen ("The Transporter") with a script co-written by J.F. Lawton, the man who wrote both "Under Siege" and "Pretty Woman."

As for the story, perhaps we can speculate a bit based on the characters’ storylines drawn from the five "Dead Or Alive" games…

Jaime Pressly is Tina Armstrong, who is an American wrestler-aspiring model in the video game series

Sarah Carter is Helena Douglas, an opera singer in the "Dead Or Alive 2" game whose father runs the tournament

Devon Aoki is Kasumi, a skilled ninja in all of the "DOA" games who runs away to fight in the tournament

Natassia Malthe is Ayane, Kasumi’s half-sister from the "DOA 2" game on, who has been sent by their clan to exact revenge

Holly Valance is Christie Allen, the bad-girl assassin from the "DOA 3" video game

And yes, there will be volleyball (as in the non-fighting game, "Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball").

"DOA: Dead or Alive" is expected to hit theaters this September.
