Seems like every day brings news of a new horror remake, and The Hollywood Reporter delivers the latest. Sony’s Screen Gems outlet is looking to hire Simon West ("Con Air," "Tomb Raider") to direct their remake of "When a Stranger Calls." The adaptation of the 1979 Carol Kane thriller was delivered by first-timer Jake Wadewall, and it seems like Sony is already pushing forward with a follow-up entitled "When a Stranger Returns."(The original flick also had a sequel, the cleverly titled "When a Stranger Calls Back," in 1993.) As most horror fans can instantaneously tell you, "When a Stranger Calls" is the one with the babysitter and the infamous line "Why don’t you check on the children?"
