TAGGED AS: Awards, critics, Critics Choice

Awards season has officially begun! The 31st annual Critics Choice Awards went down last night in Los Angeles, and all eyes were on Paul Thomas Anderson, who took home Best Director and Best Picture for his critically-acclaimed One Battle After Another. Amy Madigan was shocked to take home Best Supporting Actress for Weapons, but the critics knew her stellar performance as Aunt Gladys was definitely award-worthy. Timothée Chalamet also appeared in disbelief when he nabbed Best Actor for the Christmas Day favorite Marty Supreme. And to no one’s surprise, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners was awarded Best Casting and Ensemble, one of four wins for the popular horror film.
On the TV side, Seth Rogan’s The Studio nabbed a few awards, including Best Comedy, Best Supporting Actor for Ike Barinholtz (special shout out to Sal Saperstein), and Best Actor for Seth Rogen. Rhea Seehorn went up against some serious powerhouses, like Kathy Bates and Keri Russell, but ultimately took home Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in Pluribus. And speaking of Powerhouses, Jean Smart has once again dominated, winning Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks.
