Venom Star Tom Hardy Says the Dark Side Drew Him To Marvel's Mischievous Symbiote

Plus, Riz Ahmed weighs in on the "good intentions" of the film's symbiote-obsessed villain.

What drew Tom Hardy back to the comic-book genre, six years after he played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises? The actor says it was the “Jekyll and Hyde” nature of Eddie Brock/Venom, the character’s inner conflict, that compelled him to take on the title character in Sony’s hotly anticipated Venom. Rotten Tomatoes’ Jacqueline Coley sat down with Hardy and co-stars Riz Ahmed (who plays Dr. Carlton Drake) and Reid Scott (Dr. Dan Lewis) ahead of the movie’s release to talk about the dual nature of the film’s anti-hero, as well as the “good intentions” of the film’s true villain.

Venom is in theaters October 5
