Jonathan Mostow, director of "Breakdown," "U-571," and "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," will step behind the camera for Disney’s new remake of "Swiss Family Robinson," says Variety. Working from an adapted screenplay by Greg Poirier ("Tomcats"), Mostow will get started on a re-write with frequent collaborator Sam Montgomery.

Originally intended to be a "modernization" of the classic tale of a shipwrecked family, the new "Robinson" will now remain rooted in its original 19th-century setting. Based on the classic tale by author Johann David Wyss, "Swiss Family Robinson" has been adapted for the big screen twice, originally in 1940 and again in 1960, and yielded TV versions in 1958 and 1975. Mr. Mostow also has "Terminator 4" on his back burner; screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato are working on that screenplay presently.
