What was the bigger battle in 2016: The Dark Knight vs. the Man or Steel – or the Tomatometer vs. the Audience Score? On a little website called Rotten Tomatoes, those two competitions were pretty evenly matched when it came to a certain follow-up to Man of Steel.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not the kind of movie people feel “meh” about. When it comes to this superhero smackdown from DC maestro Zack Snyder, you’re likely either all in or all the way out. (Don’t believe us? Ask a buddy what they feel about “Martha” next time you’re having beers.) That divide is represented in the scores for the film: BvS, as it’s now known, is Rotten at 29% on the Tomatometer – critics largely thought it was overwrought and over-long – but Fresh at 62% according to the Audience Score, with users loving the epic battles and the chance to see several of their favorite characters duking it out on the big screen. Both sides were pretty unanimous on Batfleck: He was awesome.
Almost from the moment we announced our new podcast, Rotten Tomatoes Is Wrong (A Podcast from Rotten Tomatoes), requests started flowing in for an episode on BvS. And so… our latest episode tackles Snyder’s brooding battle flick, digging into controversial casting decisions, its faithfulness to the comics, Snyder’s very particular style – and his ultimate edition of the film – and, yes, the Martha moment.
