Pre- (and Re-) "Departed"?

Martin Scorsese’s "The Departed" is nearing the end of its successful box-office run, and already rumors have started that not one, but two films may be appended to the director’s latest effort.

"The Departed" was, of course, a remake of "Infernal Affairs," a Hong Kong classic which eventually became part of a trilogy; now, IGN Movies reports, "Departed" co-star Mark Wahlberg has informed that audiences may see sequels, prequels, or some combination thereof:

Scorsese (left) already talking sequel(s)?

"We may do another one because it’s based on a Hong Kong film, and there is a trilogy. So we may do a sequel with a new cast, and a prequel and bring back the rest of the guys…They’re talking to Robert De Niro and a couple of other people…Anybody who is anybody wants to work with Marty."

Wahlberg’s next project, the action drama "Shooter," arrives in theaters this spring.
