New "Star Trek" Flick to Hit Theaters on Christmas (2008)

by | February 28, 2007 | Comments

Pretty slow news week, so here’s a really short one: Paramount’s 11th "Star Trek" flick will hit theaters on Christmas Day 2008. As reported a few days back, J.J. Abrams will be directing.

That’s really all there is to this story, so let’s use this space to test out the argument that all the odd-numbered "Star Trek" movies stink … using only the Tomatometer and opinions from you folks.

"Star Trek: The Motion Picture" — 55% (Rotten)

"Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan" — 96% (Fresh)

"Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock" — 74% (Fresh)

"Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home" — 89% (Fresh)

"Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier" — 23% (Rotten)

"Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country" — 79% (Fresh)

"Star Trek: Generations" — 48% (Rotten)

"Star Trek: First Contact" — 94% (Fresh)

"Star Trek: Insurrection" — 61% (Fresh)

"Star Trek: Nemesis" — 38% (Rotten)

OK, now you name the top three "Trek" flicks and your bottom three. Mine are easy:

Best: #2, #3, and #4 (with an honorable mention to #8)

Worst: #10, #9 and #5
