Chris Cooper ("Seabiscuit") has joined the cast of "Jarhead," Variety reports. He will play the commander of an elite Marine sniper unit serving in Iraq during the first Gulf War. The cast also includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx, Peter Sarsgaard, and Lucas Black. Sam Mendes directs from a script based on the memoirs of Gulf War veteran Anthony Swofford. The movie is set for a fall 2005 release.
