Breakdown of 2020 Movie Delays, and When They Will Hit Theaters

Disney shifts Black Widow, West Side Story, and Deep Water to 2021, moves back Eternals, Death on the Nile, and more.

So far, 2020 has been unpredictable, as movie studios and the film industry at large scramble to respond to an ever-changing global crisis. In early March, it was announced that the release date of the latest James Bond film (and Daniel Craig’s final outing in the role), No Time to Die, was being postponed from April to November, and it was only a matter of time before others followed suit. Sure enough, a whole slew of films have now announced release date changes, and not all of them have pinned down exactly when they plan to open. Most recently, Disney finally flinched in its game of chicken with COVID-19 and pushed back a handful of its films, including Marvel’s Black WidowEternals, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as the sequel Death on the Nile, Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story, and more.

Read on for the full list of films that have postponed their opening weekends in 2020, and be sure to check back for updates as they are announced. [Updated on 9/23/20.]
