The third installment of the Quiet Place franchise sees the action move to a bustling New York City 88 days before the events of the first film in a prequel subtitled Day One. Lupita Nyong’o stars as a terminal cancer patient named Samira, or just “Sam,” who gets swept into the midst of the Death Angel apocalypse, where she and her cat Frodo find an unlikely acquaintance in Eric (Joseph Quinn) as they silently maneuver through the city to avoid the all-hearing invaders.
Ahead of the release of the film, Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong’o interviewed each other, sharing their top apocalypse hiding places, discussing their top scary movie scenes, and predicting future franchise locations.
Lupita Nyong’o: What do you think makes Samira and Eric such a great duo to watch together in this movie?
Joseph Quinn: This is dangerous, isn’t it? I don’t know. I think it is about watching two people come together and get to know each other in extraordinary circumstances. That is always interesting. Why do we like dating shows? Why do we like reality TV shows? Because you like watching people communicate; it’s interesting. There’s an animal thing, a primal thing. It’s also that in A Quiet Place: Day One.
