This week on home video, we’ve got both the fifth season of The Walking Dead and the inaugural season of Fear the Walking Dead, as well as a number of Certified Fresh indies, including the recent Amy Winehouse documentary, Noah Baumbach’s latest, and a well-received thriller. Read on for the full list:
This Certified Fresh documentary about the brilliant and troubled R&B chanteuse Amy Winehouse is from Asif Kapadia, the filmmaker behind the nearly-as-acclaimed portrait of the great racecar driver Senna. Special features include a commentary track, deleted scenes, extra interviews, and previously unseen performance footage.
Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn star in this Certified Fresh drama about two indebted gamblers who trek to New Orleans for a high-stakes poker tournament. The only extra listed is a making-of featurette.
Greta Gerwig stars in Noah Baumbach‘s Certified Fresh comedy about a college freshman whose soon-to-be stepsister leads her on a series of adventures. Bonus features include three behind-the-scenes featurettes and a photo gallery.
This creepy, Certified Fresh horror film centers on twin boys who suspect that the woman who returned to their house after facial surgery isn’t really their mother. Only one extra available: a conversation with filmmakers Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz.
This spinoff of The Walking Dead ran for six episodes, detailing how the zombie apocalypse all began. Special features include character bios and a look at the overall series. A special edition is scheduled for early 2016, but if you just want the series, you can get it now.
This package of The Walking Dead: Season Five comes housed in a collector’s case, topped by a gruesome sculpture by McFarlane Toys. The special features are the same as the ones featured on the season five Blu-ray set, so this is really for your Walking Dead enthusiast.
And lastly, from the Criterion Collection, we have this 1969 film from Michael Ritchie starring Robert Redford as an ambitious Olympic skier vying for the gold medal. The new Blu-ray includes interviews with Redford, screenwriter James Salter, and more.
