In 2002, "The Bourne Identity" grossed about $213 million worldwide. In 2004, "The Bourne Supremacy" hit $288 million. More importantly … they’re both damn good spy thrillers. The third chapter, "The Bourne Ultimatum," hits theaters later this summer, but the first trailer just arrived.
Returning for second stint behind the helm is director Paul Greengrass. (The first chapter was directed by Doug Liman.) Also back on board are Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, and Joan Allen. Screenwriters such as Tony Gilroy, Paul Attanasio, and Tom Stoppard have worked on the adaptation, and that’s a pretty impressive trio right there.
The plot has to do with … I have no idea, frankly, and the less I know about the movie going in, the better. That’s why I liked this new trailer: it uses our knowledge of the previous flicks to get us interested — instead of doling out a lot of plot-heavy spoilers. (I’m sure the next trailer will be a lot different.) "The Bourne Ultimatum" opens on August 3rd.
