Disney Wants Some More of That "National Treasure"

by | June 17, 2005 | Comments

Despite earlier claims that a "National Treasure" sequel would not move forward without a fairly impressive concept already in place, Disney & Jerry Bruckheimer have hired a screenwriter to begin work on the follow-up.

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that screenwriter Greg Poirier ("Tomcats," "See Spot Run") has been tapped to put pen to paper and come up with a "National Treasure 2" concept. Jon Turteltaub, director of the first surprise smash, will be returning for the sequel; no word yet regarding the involvement of original treasure hunters Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, and Sean Bean.
