MediaWeek and The Hollywood Reporter bring news on a rather unqiue release pattern for the Discovery Channel’s upcoming "Flight 93" documentary — and yes, it’s a 9/11 film. "The Flight That Fought Back" will play at invitation-only screenings in 15 U.S. cities on September 7th.

"The network and Regal Cinemas are teaming up to present a series of free, invitation-only screenings in 15 of the communities that were affected by the loss of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in a field in Somerset County, Penn., on Sept. 11, 2001, after passengers foiled a fourth and final terrorist attack that morning. Discovery has invited the families and friends of the 33 passengers and seven crewmembers who were aboard Flight 93 to attend the screenings.

"The Flight That Fought Back" makes its cable debut on the fourth anniversary of 9/11, at 9 p.m. on Discovery’s flagship channel. The film, which incorporates documentary footage and a number of re-enactments, tells the story of how passengers Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham and Jeremy Glick agreed to storm the cockpit in order to prevent an attack on what experts now believe would have been carried out on the U.S. Capitol Building."

"Flight" will be narrated by Keifer Sutherland and broadcast without commercial interruption.
