TAGGED AS: FX, Netflix, Showtime
This week in TV news, GLOW is back, Julie Andrews has a new children’s show, Daniel Craig hits the small screen, and more!
Netflix has greenlit G.L.O.W., Jenji Kohan’s 30-minute comedy about the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling who ruled the ring in the 1980s. Set in Los Angeles, the show promises to feature “Big hair and body slams.” For Kohan, who will executive produce, this is a continuation of her successful relationship with Netflix, which includes the critically-acclaimed Orange is the New Black.
Last fall we reported news of an FX pilot going into production based on aspects of the X-Men universe. The network has now announced that the show, titled Legion, about a troubled youth played by Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) who is a diagnosed schizophrenic but discovers he may be more than just a human, has been picked up for a season order. The show is an FX Productions and Marvel Television co-production, and begins shooting this summer in Vancouver for an early 2017 premiere. Noah Hawley (Fargo) serves as executive producer.
