Toronto International Film Festival 2026: Movie Scorecard
The 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is upon us, following on the heels of the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals, whose lineups included a diverse slate of films in different genres. The same is true of TIFF 2026, taking place from September 10-20, 2026. Though it features a wide variety of films that debuted at Venice, Telluride, Cannes, and other fests, TIFF also boasts a number of its own premieres that will be a major part of the awards season discussion.
The opening night film is Sian Heder’s Being Heumann, starring Ruth Madeley in the role of activist Judy Heumann, sure to be a buzzworthy title after Heder’s last film CODA won the Oscar for Best Picture back in 2022. Other notable premieres include Peter Farrelly’s I Play Rocky, starring Anthony Ippolito as Sylvester Stallone as he crafts the titular film, another Best Picture winner; Chris Rock’s Misty Green, starring Rosalind Eleazar as fading Hollywood star trying to make a comeback; and Susanna White’s Prima Facie, an adaptation of the 2019 stage play of the same name starring Cynthia Erivo.
