The Walking Dead season 7 returns Sunday, February 12 at 9/8C on AMC
(Danai Gurira)
Michonne is devastated by the turn of events, but she tries to get Rick to understand they have to stand up to Negan, who has taken all their guns. When she fails to sway Rick, she decides to end Negan’s life herself. That’s when we see the old Michonne pop up as she sets her steely jaw, grabs her sword, and traps a Savior, Isabelle (Aerli Austen). She makes Isabelle drive her to the Sanctuary (and kills her at Isabelle’s request), and Michonne can see how outnumbered they are. She has to make Rick listen to reason and gather the troops. Where is she? At the Hilltop reunion.
(Lauren Cohan)
Maggie breaks your heart in her grieving for Glenn (Steven Yeun), but she also turns out to be quite a badass this season. After she and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) take Glenn and Abraham’s (Michael Cudlitz) bodies to Hilltop to bury them, Maggie realizes she should stay there through the duration of her pregnancy. Sasha and Jesus (Tom Payne) think that’s an excellent idea, but Gregory (Xander Berkeley) tells them to go. Then Maggie basically saves Hilltop from a walker invasion, and the Hilltop peeps start looking at Maggie as a leader. She should be. Where is she? At the Hilltop reunion.
(Melissa McBride)
Who misses the old Carol? Her plans to die at the hands of zombies is thwarted by Morgan (Lennie James) and a man on horse, who take the wounded Carol to The Kingdom, a settlement run by King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and his pet tiger. The Kingdom is very peaceful, and you learn Ezekiel has a shaky truce with the Saviors to keep it that way. Morgan is impressed, but Carol thinks they are doomed just like the rest and wants to leave to live by herself. Her wish is granted, but how long do you think that’ll last? Where is she? Alone in her shack. Maybe reading a book.
(Norman Reedus)
Poor Daryl. He really gets the snot kicked out of him in this season. Negan bashes Glenn’s skull in when Daryl shows resistance, and Lucille takes retribution. Because of this defiance, Negan takes Daryl to the Sanctuary to break him. Locking him in a cell and torturing him, it seems Negan succeeds when he brings Daryl with him to Alexandria, and Daryl is just a shell of his former self. He could also be playing possum, though. A moment comes when someone leaves Daryl’s cell unlocked (who?), and he escapes after caving in Fat Joey’s (Joshua Hoover) skull. Where is he? At the Hilltop reunion.
(Jeffrey Dean Morgan)
Negan sure likes to chew up the scenery! We get to see the inner workings of the Sanctuary, and how he rules with terror and intimidation, much like a cult leader. There’s Dwight (Austin Amelio), one of Negan’s most trusted lieutenants, who once paid the price for breaking the rules with a hot iron placed on his face. Negan also has several “wives,” including Sherry (Christine Evangelista), who is Dwight’s former wife. From the looks of it, however, there could be a resistance forming inside the Sanctuary. Where is he? Presumably Sanctuary.
(Chandler Riggs)
Carl joins the list of people who want Negan dead. He doesn’t understand his dad’s reasoning, so he decides he’ll take matter into his own hands. Sneaking into the Sanctuary, he tries to kill Negan but ends up shooting some of Negan’s men instead. Will Lucille teach him a lesson? Not this time. Negan actually admires Carl, and he brings him back to Alexandria to wait for Rick and figure out the best course of action. Guess who else wants Negan’s demise? Rosita (Christian Serratos), who shames Eugene (Josh McDermitt) into making her a bullet. Eugene is handy that way, which is probably why Negan makes off with him. Where is he? At the Hilltop reunion.
(Andrew Lincoln)
Rick is demoralized by Glenn and Abraham’s brutal deaths. He cannot have anyone else die, and so he kowtows to Negan, much to the chagrin of the others. Little good it does. Negan and the Saviors continue their reign of terror: severely beating Aaron (Ross Marquand); gutting Spencer (Austin Nichols) for trying to usurp Rick; and shooting Olivia (Ann Mahoney) after Rosita’s assassination attempt. Rick realizes that everyone around him is willing to risk their lives to kill Negan, so he finally snaps out of it and gathers the troops. And he doesn’t even know yet that Tara (Alanna Masterson) knows of a secret stash of heavily armed, pissed off women at Oceanside — can’t wait until he finds out! Where is he? Reunited with Daryl, Maggie, and the rest at Hilltop, Rick and gang know it’s time to rise up.
