Trailer Bulletin: The Woods

Curious to see a peek of "The Woods," an (eventually) upcoming horror flick from Lucky McKee, the guy who was cool enough to give us the cult classic "May"? Well then head on over to the Twitchfilm blog and click away … because god only knows when Sony’s going to release the freakin’ movie already.

Finished quite some time ago and now left sitting on a Sony shelf for reasons I won’t even contemplate, "The Woods" is the sophomore effort from "May"-maker Lucky McKee and the screenwriting debut of one David Ross. The cast includes Agnes Bruckner, Patricia Clarkson, and Bruce Campbell, and the plot can be described like so:

"The Woods" is a psychological horror story that begins when a neglected teenager named Heather (Bruckner) is dropped off by her parents at a remote all-girls boarding school deep in the forest. Watched over by sinister head-mistress Ms. Traverse (Clarkson) and her staff, Heather is tormented by her classmates and is desperate to go home. But when students start disappearing and she begins to have horrifying visions, Heather realizes things at the school are not what they seem. She only knows there’s something out there in the woods – and it won’t be letting her leave any time soon.

For reasons undisclosed and probably quite boring, "The Woods" has been pushed back more times than Artie Ziff on prom night. No word yet on when UA/Sony/MGM/Screen Gems will be releasing the thing, what with horror flicks semi-flooding the screens in late ’06, but the hardcore horrorites have been waiting patiently for quite some time now. Maybe Sony and the Weinsteins could combine their efforts and release "The Woods" and "Feast" as a horror geek double feature. (Yeah, and maybe I’ll get hired as Lionsgate’s next horror-buyer.)

P.S. Feel free to add Twitch to the Blog folder of your Favorites file, because it’s one of the finest movieblogs out there.
