Tom Cruise NOT to Star in "Watchmen"

I haven’t read the source material, but apparently Tom Cruise was interested in playing the character ‘Ozymandias’ in Zack Snyder‘s (eventually) upcoming "Watchmen" adaptation. But don’t get too stressed just yet…

Not only is it true that Mr. Cruise had expressed an interest in the part, but it’s also true that he won’t be getting that role. Here’s what Mr. Snyder had to say about it: "He was interested … I did talk to him about it for a while." But our source plainly states that Cruise is no longer pursuing this project, which I can only assume is good news for fans of the novel.

Then again, Devin at CHUD.com thinks Cruise would have been a pretty good pick, so maybe this is bad news. (OK, I gotta read "Watchmen" already, I know.)
