Tobey Maguire Thinks Twice About a "Spider-Man 4"

This kind of stuff seems to happen like clockwork: An actor in the midst of publicizing a "part 3" will talk about how he’s "done" with the series … and then a few weeks later his tune will change just a little bit. Just ask Tobey Maguire.

Despite not having a contract for a fourth "Spider-Man" movie, Mr. Maguire now seems to be keeping all doors open and all bridges unburned. He told the Sci-Fi Wire that "It all depends on if there’s a story worth telling … If they come up with a good movie, and the whole team wants to get back together, and we feel like we can make a good movie that’s worth making, then I’m up for it."

This runs a little bit counter to comments the actor made a few weeks back, but hey, why not stay in the game for a few more movies, right? Maguire’s redheaded co-star (Kirsten Dunst) made some similar comments a few months back. Basically how everyone should take a break and then maybe reunite for a fourth chapter andzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..

Producer Avi Arad seems to definitely want a fourth "Spidey" flick, and I think he’d go ahead with or without Maguire, Dunst, and even Sam Raimi. C’mon, do you guys really think Sony and Marvel want to stop at three movies??

"SM3" opens on May 4th — and it’s gonna be huge.
