The latest episode of The Walking Dead, “New Best Friends,” examined newly forged friendships and alliances on Sunday night, as well as a few well-established ones that had fans tweeting up a storm.

SPOILERS AHEAD!
STOP HERE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN EPISODE 10, SEASON 7 OF THE WALKING DEAD

For starters, when Morgan (Lennie James) tried to defend his new friend Richard (Karl Makinen) against the Saviors, it cost him his stick. And as everyone knows, that stick means the world to him because Eastman gave it to him.

And:

Daryl (Norman Reedus) made Morgan’s loss worse when Morgan returned to the Kingdom with blood in his ear and no stick causing Daryl to ask what was wrong with him. That’s when Daryl shamed Morgan for being too passive. But should Daryl really be shaming anyone considering the fact that he got Glenn killed?

After that, Richard tried to make Daryl his new friend. He even gave him a crossbow, Daryl’s weapon of choice.

But things quickly went south when Richard tried to make Daryl help
him take down a couple dozen Saviors just so he could use Carol (Melissa McBride) as both the patsy and the bait to convince King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) to fight the Saviors. This didn’t go over well with Daryl, who quickly kicked Richard to the curb — literally.

Plus:

With that bromance dead before it even started, fans then got to see what’s up with Daryl’s real best friend Rick (Andrew Lincoln). Trying to strike up a deal with a group of weird garbage people, Rick told the group’s leader Jadis (newcomer Pollyanna McIntosh) that her group can’t own the Alexandrians because they belong to the Saviors.

But Jadis with her strange way of talking, thinking, and dressing were too much. To make matters worse, she didn’t try to hear out Rick and the gang because she’s all about acting oddly.

Upping her strange quotient, Jadis pushed Rick into a Thunderdome-like pit with a medieval zombie where he had to fight for his life and earn Jadis’ respect. Of course, Rick defeated the beast, whose name was Winslow, but not without suffering several injuries. Poor Rick.

After Rick stumbled out of the pit, Richonne fans loved the smiles he and Michonne (Danai Gurira) gave each other. Get a room, you lovebirds.

The talk between Rick and Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) was equally heartwarming. But Rosita (Christian Serratos) going off on Tara (Alana Masterson) was not. What the heck, Rosita? Why are you so insufferable now? Sigh.

And this:

In the end, like Rick said, it’s all going to come down to the Alexandrians getting the Garbage Pail Kids the guns they want in order to take down the Saviors as a united front. Can they do it and, will Tara tell Rick about the Oceanside community of women? Time will tell.

Speaking of time, it was like no time had passed at all when Daryl and Carol reunited. They hugged, she made dinner, and Daryl even lied to Carol about Glenn’s and Abraham’s fates.

While Morgan thinks Daryl lied to Carol to protect her, some fans thought his truth twisting came from the guilt he feels for Glenn’s death. Regardless of the reason, Daryl is no longer living within the Kingdom. He’s headed to the Hilltop, once again putting his life in danger.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC
