Studios are looking carefully at the release schedules of this year’s summer movies in the hopes of avoiding box office showdowns, Variety reports. Indicative of such potential conflicts are "War of the Worlds" and "Fantastic Four," both scheduled to open on July 4. Studio execs are loath to open against other big flicks, as the box offices grosses can be hurt all around, but they don’t necessarily want to blink, either.
