  • Dr.Malicious, MD

I agree with all of this.

  • Sassy Tits

Jesus, the Razzies really are just about obvious choices for attention’s sake, aren’t they. What a low-ambition, low-insight, low-accuracy list of winners. Why does anyone even bother covering this attention-whoring bullshit?

    • Jon Bisiach

Thank you for your insights, Mr Trank.

      • Sassy Tits

You should be on the Razzies panel, what with that cutting wit and all.

        • Brock Lesnar

          Calm down, Mr. Trank.

        • World’s Finest Comments

Insulting somebody else’s wit doesn’t mean you have it yourself. I thought all your arguments with Fox taught you that by now, Mr. Trank.

    • Kevin lim

What’s not abvious if you may give an example?

      • Sassy Tits

How about Get Hard for Worst Film or Worst Screenplay for being 100 minutes of homophobia and rape jokes? Or maybe Faith of our Fathers, because that’s a terrible movie too, but they’d never nominate that because it wouldn’t get them any attention. “The acting is atrocious, the dialogue a disgrace and the props look like they were designed by a conscripted middle-school drama club.” “It’s obnoxious, to say the least, to use the Vietnam War as an excuse to affirm the importance of telling all and sundry about Jesus at all times (i.e., “testifying”), under all circumstances.”

        • Paul

Calm down, tits, no one takes this seriously. Except you, I think…

          • Sassy Tits

He asked for an example, I gave examples.

        • Vits/Vicente Torres

GET HARD was in the ballots… but not enough people voted for it.

    • Alex W

      Calm your sassy tits!

  • Arezslan

This is bullshit the 50 shades of grey actors aren’t even bad at all. You could see they were really trying it isn’t their fault the source material is a pos.

    • Sassy Tits

Yeah but lolololololol moar liek 50 shades of POOPS right guys lololololol

    • Pinkk

One of the downsides to the Razzies, it’s become more of a way to just tear down known released movies than picking the truely awful.

      • Domhnall Trump

Well yeah of course they’re going to want to give it to something well-known. Otherwise every year would just be a bunch of straight-to-Netflix B-movies.

    • Amilynn

Eh, from what I understand they made a terrible on screen couple beyond the garbage script. Worst actor could have rightfully gone to any of the nominees, not so sure about the actress category (Jupiter Ascending was godawful but Kunis did the best she could with the lines she was handed).

  • Shamirr

Trank didn’t even direct all of FF, you have to give worst director to The Wachowskis. That movie was horrendous and had a much bigger budget, with no studio interference.

    • Danuel Warren

I still dont even know what that movie was all about.

      • Sebastian Rusu

About the joy of mindfully cleaning the toilets while daydreaming about being the lost key to the future of the universe + Magic Mike space surfing with fetching elf ears.

        • Amilynn

Also, abdicating the galactic throne and potentially dooming billions of sentient beings to extermination and civil wars. How heroic!

    • Alan Michael

should have said “Sony” for director lol

    • Vits/Vicente Torres

The awards are given depending on who’s in the credits.

    • World’s Finest Comments

Trank threw childish tantrums, destroyed hotel rooms in retaliation, disrespected his actors and sabotaged the film with one tweet without thinking how that would hurt all the people who actually did work hard on it.

      That’s definitely worst director material.

      • Pinkk

His tweet didn’t sabotage the film, the film did that all on it’s own. It was terrible and really, the worst movie released out of all those listed. :/

        • Alex W

It was certainly bad enough on its own to tank, but the tweet definitely stopped a lot of people from seeing it. So it still counts as sabotage from a financial perspective at the least.

    • Alex W

The fact that he didn’t even bother to direct it definitely makes him worst director.

  • Judene McPherson

How come studios keep backing Adam Sandler? Does he have some dirty secret holding over their heads? Adam Sandler is PAINFULLY UNFUNNY!!!!

    • La Esmeralda

They keep backing him because sadly his movies keep making money at the box office.

    • Robert Ivey

Adam Sandler makes crappy horrible unfunny comedies, because people go see them. Its fairly sad, because he is very talented, but people go to his worst works. Its just a sad commentary on society that he makes money making crap.

      • Wrench

Sandler was outstanding in Reign Over Me. But that movie wasn’t a comedy. He needs to do more dramatic roles if you ask me.

        • Don’t forget Punch Drunk Love.

      • twobitcoder

Not just society….American society. Just to be clear.

        • Art R

Not quite (sad but true). His last few movies did very well overseas…

          Pixels:
          Domestic: $78,747,585 32.3%
          + Foreign: $164,747,471 67.7%
          = Worldwide: $243,495,056

          Blended:
          Domestic: $46,294,610 36.2%
          + Foreign: $81,740,000 63.8%
          = Worldwide: $128,034,610

          Grown-ups 2:
          Domestic: $133,668,525 54.1%
          + Foreign: $113,315,753 45.9%
          = Worldwide: $246,984,278

          Jack and Jill:
          Domestic: $74,158,157 49.5%
          + Foreign: $75,515,631 50.5%
          = Worldwide: $149,673,788

      • jimboHuge

Um…Hello? Kardashians?! This is not new.

    • Salvador

Adam Sandler fan here… part of what makes his movies “bad” makes them great ala Snakes on the Plan level but more fun.

    • Gabriel Strasburg

There are a lot of really stupid people like Salvador who make Sandler films profitable.

    • gotham1883

Got that right. He has never been funny. I do not get it either.

    • Vomkrieg

      The secret is this.

His garbage movies still tend to make good return on investment. Pixels, which was dire, made 240 mill of 80 mill budget.

Grown ups 2, 3-1 return, Jack and Jill 2 to 1 return, That’s my boy lost some money, Just go with it 2.5 to 1, and Grown ups 1 3.5 to 1.

As bad as they are, people are still buying them. I don’t for the life of me know why.

      • rubber_samuel

“Just Go With It” was funny…..Same as “Grown Ups”…..The rest you mention were pretty bad.

        • Vomkrieg

I haven’t seen them. I saw parts of pixels on TV recently, and did not think it was at all funny. The last film of his i really enjoyed was “don’t mess with the Zohan”.

    • Alex R Hughes

Sandler makes kids films and they don’t discriminate against poor quality

    • Garrison Bennet

In a nutshell, Sandler’s movies are profitable no matter how horrible as they are, and Happy Madison Productions is his own production studio. As long as this combonation stays intact, there is a lifetime potential for these mind numbing films.

    • jimboHuge

He makes “movies” that are for free TV. They fit well in a 2 hour block of TV time, since they are only 80 minutes (all they can stand to edit). Also Netflix and 3 Adam Sandler movies on one Blue Ray at Wal-Mart for $4.99. He is giving poor kids something to watch, I guess.

    • Domhnall Trump

His films keep doing great at the box office despite their abysmal quality. They don’t have to worry about what the critics say and they don’t need to worry about dealing with some auteur director who will fight them for his/her artistic vision. I’m sure he never goes over time or over budget either given how little effort he puts in. So it’s not entirely surprising that studios keep handing him cash.

  • Brock Lesnar

Fant4stic. What an epic train wreck. One of the few movies I had the displeasure of torrenting.

  • David Graves

OMG the Razzies didn’t nominate a single actor of color. Racist!

    • Grant W

Now now, to the sorts who seriously talk about “all white Oscars” are the same sorts who no doubt would call you a racist if you nominated someone of color… nevermind actually giving them a Razzie. Would prove racism wouldn’t it, can only give a black man an insulting trophy!

As to the list, I haven’t seen most of these trainwrecks but i get the feeling the acting “winners” are more about the movie they were in then how bad they actually were performing.

    • k._.k

Um, Jennifer Lopez is… what now?

      • Paul

An ass, and I saw that with full admiration!

    • Vits/Vicente Torres

Yes they did: Michael B. Jordan and Will Smith.

    • NilbogResident

I don’t think the crux of the problem is with the Oscars, but rather the decidedly stereotyped roles for people of color that Hollywood trots out. I’m glad that “big film” is becoming less and less relevant with the proliferation of great, niched productions outside Hollywood.

  • DillholeMcRib

Why are not Adam Sandler and King of Queens fatty the winners for each and every nomination?

    • Douglas E. Berry

Because, terrifyingly, there were people who managed to dip even deeper into the pits of Hell.

    • Pinkk

Because Fantastic Four was really /THAT/ bad!

    • Alex W

It’s an honor just to be nominated.

    • Domhnall Trump

Because they need to give it to someone else from time to time.

  • Red Ruffensor

I’m glad to see Kaley Cuoco finally get the recognition she deserves.

  • World’s Finest Comments

Eddie Redmayne “Winning” totally makes up for him stealing Keaton’s Oscar last year.

    • ArielVronsky

Both were great. I know Keaton had more years of acting experience which makes comprehensible to think he deserved An oscar but It’s sad that Both were nominated in the same year. I feel Bad For Every Actor on Jupiter Ascending, Fant4stic and Fifty shades… They had potential but those stupid producers and writers seems to lack of intelligence and good taste.

    • Nick

I was happy that Redmayne got the award over Keaton because I’m still not 100% sure Keaton was even acting. I think Innaritu just managed to capture his breakdown on film.

  • mike

Why did Trank win for worse director? i would think that his twitter rage about the studio taking control of Fantastic Four would save him from that award

    • Vits/Vicente Torres

Based on the weak performances (from talented actors), the wrong color palette (for this material) and the overall lack of vision (a super-hero movie shouldn’t have so few locations), I’d say he’s to blame anyway.

      • Brock Lesnar

Also the people close to the films production said that he treated the actors like shit, wouldn’t talk to them a lot of time, and showed up on set drunk and high.

  • Hard Little Machine

But if your only option is this year’s Significant Black/Social Movie, it really doesn’t matter.

  • massive2341

Never been so happy to see winners of any award show ever.

  • Maz Max

    Lmao

  • Riya Riyat

So wrong, Pixels is a light-hearted comedy, a fun movie. Jupiter Ascending was pretty good.

    • Amilynn

      No.

  • Michele Gardini

Hem, there’s something wrong here. Worst Screenplay went to Fifty Shades, not to Paul Blart Mall Cop 2…

    • NilbogResident

Paul Blart Mall Fart was hideous indeed. Pretty much anything under the Happy Madison banner is going to be dumbed-down, ad-filled dreck.

      • Michele Gardini

I agree, but the fact is that wasn’t Mall Cop 2 to win the razzie. http://www.razzies.com/history/2016/2016-screenplay.html

      • Michele Gardini

I agree, but wasn’t Mall Cop 2 to win the razzie for the worst screenplay, is Fifty Shade. Go to razzie site end see with your own eyes.

        • NilbogResident

Pretty amazing. I haven’t seen 50 Shades (I can only imagine how bad it is), but I have seen a lot of clips of Mall Shart, and it was god awful. I can see 50 Shades being really bad… for different reasons – of which, I can’t see being worse than Mall Flarp.

  • NilbogResident

It seems like anything good that Sandler has done has not been an “Adam Sandler movie.” Even the stuff he did back in the 90’s feels horribly dated now. His newer stuff really feels dumbed down, and caters to the lowest common denominator. The ad placement in his movies is atrocious, but it’s easy to see why content of the lowest common denominator is perfect for advertising.

  • Mark

Arguing over which is the worst movie of the year is painfully unfunny like an unfunny movie. So I assume the hate is magical for Sandler AND his fans. The Fifty Shades movie must be just as magical to it’s support haters, too. I was surprised the song didn’t win the Oscar, since it did win the Grammy. Razzies still don’t recognize a music category for badness. What if I’d like to play The Weekend at the office, will the rest of the gang “understand”?

    • NilbogResident

I like the Razzies, because Hollywood, more often than not, churns out complete garbage. I understand moviemaking is a business, but that doesn’t mean you have to treat it like a product on a shelf. And it certainly doesn’t mean you have to keep resurrecting old franchises, rebooting and creating insipid sequels.

      • Mark

I’m still just uncertain as to WHY there’s no music (song) category. Must be a reason, right? Whether it’s new or old garbage, or churned product; maybe, it’s just too easy. The Oscar winner this year, “Writing On The Wall”. Good? Rotten? Look at how many Razzies Fifty Shades of Grey won, yet it’s song won a Grammy and an Academy Award nomination.

    • Vits/Vicente Torres

The Razzies did have music categories: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Raspberry_Awards#Categories. I think they stopped because they haven’t been enough contenders since then.

    • Vits/Vicente Torres

The Razzies did have music categories. They only put them in the ballots when there are enough contenders.

  • ali

Well Eddie has been thirsty for another award LOL

  • Trevor Taylor

Adam Sandler has actually done some decent movies. Reign Over Me was good, and Punch-Drunk love was outstanding. The only comedies I really care for of his are Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.

Other than that, all his movies have been crap. Unfortunately they also seem to be getting progressively worse.

    • Domhnall Trump

The only movies he does that are good are ones that were made completely outside of his production company and without his entourage of overpaid buddies.

  • Sabretruthtiger

After Earth wasn’t that bad. Liberal critics just hated it because it promoted Father/son relationships whereas they just want to destroy the family and feminise men while making them fearful to make it easier for their central banking masters to control society.

  • Unifer

Anyone else find the Razzies are more relevant than the Oscars?

  • Derek

I don’t buy it. How can any movie be worse than an Adam Sandler movie, or any actor worse than Adam Sandler?

    • Vits/Vicente Torres

      Did you see the nominees?
