Cillian Murphy is entering the art world.
Well, not really. But, as The Hollywood Reporter tells it, the actor has signed on to play a young art deaer who crosses paths with Salvador Dali in Dali & I: The Surreal Story. Playing Dali? A young up-and-comer you may have heard of named Al Pacino.
Andrew Niccol is directing the project, which is based on the real-life experiences of art dealer Stan Lauryssens, and is rewriting John Salvati‘s script, which was drawn from Lauryssens’ autobiography, Dali and I. The Reporter gives the following synopsis:
The movie, which will span the 1960s-80s, follows the time in Salvador Dali’s life when most of his great work was behind him and he became more flamboyant. Dali (Pacino) also developed a mentor-protege relationship with a young art dealer named Stan Lauryssens (Murphy).
Filming is scheduled to begin early next year in Spain and New York. Murphy and Pacino were most recently seen in Sunshine and Ocean’s Thirteen, respectively.
