The new year is nigh upon us, so the home video pickings are slim, but we’ve still got a handful of decent choices for those of you who’d rather curl up in front of the TV at home than party like it’s Y2K. Read on for the full list of this week’s notable releases:
Kurt Russell and Patrick Wilson star in this Certified Fresh western thriller about a small group of men who lead a rescue mission when some locals — including one of their wives — are kidnapped by a barbaric native tribe of cannibals. Unfortunately, there are no details available on the release’s bonus features.
William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum star in Showtime’s dark comedy about a highly dysfunctional family and its irresponsible, alcoholic patriarch. Special features include deleted scenes, a look at the character relationships on the show, and a commentary track for an episode that Macy also directed.
In the second Showtime release this week, Liev Schreiber stars as the titular Los Angeles “fixer” who helps his rich clients deal with unsavory problems. Unfortunately, the season three Blu-ray set doesn’t contain any extras, though it apparently does include the first two episodes of The Affair and the first episode of the network’s newest show, Billions.
True to its title, A Walk in the Woods stars Robert Redford as an aging man stuck in a funk who reluctantly takes a troublesome old buddy (Nick Nolte) along on an extended hike on the Appalachian Trail. No bonus feature information is available.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Robert De Niro star in this thriller about a man on the run from the cops and the mob after pulling off a daring casino robbery. Extras include a commentary track, cast and crew interviews, deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette.
Rupert Friend stars in this action thriller as a deadly, genetically engineered assassin who sets out to stop an evil corporation from using the same technology to create an army of its own. Special features include deleted scenes, a breakdown of the movie’s action set pieces, and a comic book, among other things.
