New York Film Critics Circle 2016 Winners Announced: La La Land Named Best Film

The NYFCC announced the winners for their 2016 Awards this morning on Twitter. La La Land was the winner of the Best Film category, while Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea scored three awards each. The NYFCC Awards are chosen by a group of critics from daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines, and qualifying online general-interest publications. Last year, Spotlight won bot the awards for Best Picture and Best Director (Tom McCarthy).

Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali, Moonlight (2016) 98%
Best Cinematographer: James Laxton, Moonlight (2016) 98%
Best Animated Film: Zootopia (2016) 98%
Best Non-Fiction Film (Documentary): O.J.: Made in America (2016) 100%
Best Foreign Film: Toni Erdmann (2016) 93%
Best First Film: (TIE) Kelly Fremon Craig’s The Edge of Seventeen (2016) 94%, and Trey Edward Shults’s Krisha (2015) 95%
Special Award: Editor Thelma Schoonmaker
