Once, twice, three times a "Mummy": ComingSoon.net reports that screenwriter Al Gough, who is co-writing the third installment in the "Mummy" series with Miles Millar, recently divulged a few storyline details to Sci Fi Wire. Turns out that Alex, the young son of the explorers played by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in the first two films, is all grown up and ready to battle the undead himself:
"We figured out a really good family story with Rick and Evie, and [their son] Alex is now grown up. So it’s really interesting."
Looks like Junior is ready to have his own adventures.
If you’re craving more Brendan Fraser at your local theater — or are eager for Rachel Weisz to take a career detour into Unnecessary Sequelville — you’ll be excited to learn that, according to Gough, both actors are in talks to reprise their roles for the movie, slated for a summer 2008 release.
