Cloverfield

may have had a monster-sized box office drop-off its second week, but strong
reviews and its huge opening are enough to convince Paramount that America’s ready
for more: director
Matt Reeves
is in early talks with the studio to begin work on the Cloverfield sequel.

Cloverfield producer
J.J. Abrams
and writer
Drew
Goddard
will be returning for the sequel should the project go forward.

Reeves is also in talks with GreeneStreet Films to direct
The Invisible Woman
(no relation to the Marvel character), which he also
wrote. Variety describes Invisible as "a Hitchcock-style thriller that
probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect
her family."

If all goes according to plan, Reeves will direct the The Invisible Woman after the
Cloverfield
sequel wraps. No word on whether the POV format will return, but early reports indicate Abrams has expressed interest filming the movie entirely on the Prius backup camera.
