Variety reports that Terrence Malick‘s eagerly anticipated "The New World" has been moved from a November 9th release date to a (limited) Christmas Day bow and a wide release on January 13th.
New Line distribution president David Tuckerman said the "change was made because the film "won’t be done in time" for a Nov. 9 launch."
New Line is smelling some awards consideration for the historical epic (that stars Colin Farrell, Christopher Plummer, and Christian Bale) which explains the late-December "qualifying run" that’ll occur a few weeks prior to its full-scale release.
