The project’s been chatted about for a while now, but it looks like the brothers Warner and the brother Wachowski have settled on a lead for their "Speed Racer" adaptation, and it might be none other than Emile Hirsch.
Yeah, that kid from "Alpha Dog," "The Girl Next Door," and "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" will probably be the one to star in (and as) "Speed Racer." Production begins this summer in Germany, and the studio aims to have the thing ready as a tentpole release for next summer.
Needless to say, producer Joel Silver is involved. No word yet on additional cast members, but sources state that several of the established characters from the series will make their way into the movie version.
