So if it wasn’t clear from last week’s fan reaction recap, Legion gives viewers a lot to chew on, and not all of it goes down easy. Did this week’s episode make things at clearer for our addled brains? Not exactly. But the super-heroic FX series has quickly developed an ensemble of characters worth rooting for, captivating imagery and set design, and one truly creepy villain by way of the devil with yellow eyes.

Check out this week’s fan reaction highlights below.

We open this week on David (Dan Stevens) at Summerland struggling to get the voices in his head under control. Luckily Melanie (Jean Smart) is on-hand for help, telling him to turn the voices down. It provided for a pretty cool moment — not just because David may have a shot at controlling his mind, but the image of him turning down a larger-than-life sound dial puts schizophrenia in an interesting perspective.

Viewers are falling head over heels for Legion’s ladies, namely Smart and Aubrey Plaza, who plays Lenny.

But that doesn’t mean they weren’t still a little confused.

Confusion especially set in when Ptonomy (Jeremie Harris) enters David’s mind to revisit memories from his past, A Christmas Carol style. Would you take on his powers?

Some viewers found his particular powers to revisit David’s innermost memories to be invasive, even comparing it to Scientology’s infamous auditing technique.

One of the first memories Ptonomy, Melanie, and David visit is when David’s astronomer father (who’s identity is still unclear) is reading him a nightmarish bedtime story that seems to have roots in his powers’ development.

While he’s getting to know the intricacies of his own mind, David finds himself this episode wanting to get to know Syd’s (Rachel Keller) better, too. Since they can’t physically touch (we saw what happened last week with that one!), David will settle for a “romance of the mind.”

In another memory, David recalls getting stoned with Lenny. Anyone else Google that frog-faced vaporizer yet?

Honestly can that yellow-eyed devil blob just go away already!? He popped up throughout tonight’s episode, but came especially close to doing David some damage while he was in the MRI for Cary (Bill Irwin). If you watched tonight, it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll be having some nightmares.

And then to top it all off, the agency that was holding David hostage last week has now scooped up his sister Amy to use as bait.

What do you think? Did Legion episode 102 live up to the potential set from last week’s pilot — and its 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes? Sound off in the comments below.
