Lady Gaga blew the roof off of Houston’s NRG Stadium with her high-flying Super Bowl LI halftime show Sunday night on Fox (watch it on YouTube). Gaga may have bungee jumped onto the field in spectacular fashion, but the anti-Trump political statement prognosticators were expecting (seriously — bookies were even taking bets on what she would say) never landed.

Gaga opened her halftime routine with an Americana medley — “America the Beautiful” and “This Land is Your Land,” along with part of the Pledge of Allegiance — and sang her hit “Born This Way,” all of which sent a message of inclusion and patriotism as opposed to the outright resistance to President Donald Trump the outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter espoused on Election Day.

But what Lady Gaga’s show lacked in liberal fury, it more than made up for in all-out rockstar performance.
