Belfast and The Power of the Dog lead film nominations with seven each, while Succession leads TV with five nominations from the organization, which has pursued reforms after a raft of controversy in 2021.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Monday announced the nominees for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards after a year of controversy about diversity, payola, and improper behavior endemic to the organization that saw the upcoming ceremony lose its NBC broadcast.

The nominees were announced by HFPA president Helen Hoehne and Snoop Dogg from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills in live-stream that appeared on goldenglobes.com and on the Golden Globes YouTube channel.

For the first time, submissions were not required for award consideration this year; however, the HFPA accommodated filmmakers and studios who requested their content to be considered only for specific categories.

Over the last eight months, the HFPA has reformed its bylaws, implementing changes that address ethics and code of conduct, diversity, equity and inclusion, governance, and membership. The HFPA recently admitted their largest and most diverse class to date of 21 new members, all of whom are first-time Golden Globe voters.

Presentation of the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards will occur on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
