DiCaprio's Shingle to Adapt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle"

Variety reports that Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Appian Way production shingle will produce a big-screen rendition of the classic Kurt Vonnegut novel "Cat’s Cradle." The father-son screenwriting duo of Jake & James Hart have earned adaptation duties.

For those unfamiliar with this (rather brilliant) book, the story’s "an apocalyptic tale about the planet’s ultimate fate and a race to recover the world’s most dangerous substance, Ice-Nine, a new form of ice that freezes at room temperature."

It’s assumed that WB will be the studio backing the project, but nothing’s a done deal just yet. James Hart most recently adapted "Sahara" for Paramount, and he also worked on "Tuck Everlasting" for Disney.
