Who: Jon Snow’s closest friend and former steward to Maester Aemon (Targaryen) in the Night’s Watch, Sam was the first human in historical memory to kill a White Walker. He took wildling Gilly’s son as his own to endear them to his wealthy family – a plan that ultimately failed due to the prejudices of his father, Lord Randyll Tarly of Horn Hill.
Last seen: In the library of Citadel, where he hopes to study to become a maester to replace the late Maester Aemon of the Night’s Watch (on Jon Snow’s orders).
