Want to know if your favorite television series is among the latest cancelled TV shows? Bookmark this page to learn about Netflix cancelled shows, when network series get the axe, and which cable TV limited series are being reworked as anthologies to squeeze every single drop of fan love out of them.

How it works: Renewals are obvious: new season = yay! When a network or streaming service announces that they’re not making another season of a show, however, we count that as cancelled (or “canceled” if you spell it without SEO considerations). Sure, some shows “come to a natural end,” but someone somewhere said “enough,” and to avoid endless discussions about whether a title was “cancelled” or “retired” — “Daredevil and Empire were cancelled, but Game of Thrones died peacefully of old age!” — we’re going with the one designation. Feel free to debate specific titles in the comments if you wish. But first, learn which series will live on, which have been resurrected — which is happening more and more frequently — and which have reached their expiration date.

HBO has announced a third season of its trippy fantasy series, His Dark Materials. However, fans of this adaptation of author Phillip Pullman’s work should note that this will be the last chapter in the series. The story focuses on Dafne Keen’s Lyra, an extremely brave young woman who happens to be from another world. Other cast members for the second season include Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show has a cumulative 80% Tomatometer for its first two seasons.

Buckle up, folks. Because HBO Max has cleared a second season of The Flight Attendant for takeoff. The psychological thriller stars Kaley Cuoco as Cassie Bowden, a globe-trotting flight attendant and party girl who gets an unwelcome surprise when she wakes up after a black-out night in a foreign country: The man she’d flirted with on the flight over (Michiel Huisman) is lying dead next to her. Now Cassie must solve the case before the feds — or the killer — find her. The first season is Certified Fresh with a 98% Tomatometer.

Brush off those lab coats. Peacock has renewed comedy A.P. Bio for a fourth season. The comedy, which aired on NBC for its first two seasons, stars Glenn Howerton as a former Harvard professor now relegated to teach high school biology (and make his students do his bidding). Other faculty members include Patton Oswalt as Principal Ralph Durbin and Paula Pell as his secretary, Helen Henry Demarcus. The first three seasons have a cumulative 88% Tomatometer.

Hulu has canceled the gritty horror/superhero series Marvel’s Helstrom after one season. The show, which has a 27% Tomatometer score, starred Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon as Daimon and Ana Helstrom — the children of a serial killer who are also on the hunt for horrible people.

Sure, some shows “come to a natural end,” but someone somewhere said “enough,” and to avoid endless discussions about whether a title was “cancelled” or “retired” — “Daredevil was cancelled and Empire is cancelled, but Game of Thrones died peacefully of old age!” — we’re going with the one designation. Feel free to debate specific titles in the comments if you wish, but first, learn which series will live on, which have been resurrected — which is happening more and more frequently — and which have reached their expiration date.

Another renewal ahead of a debut: Apple TV+ has renewed M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant for a second season, Shyamalan revealed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint, and Nell Tiger Free star in the psychological thriller, which follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home. The series joins Apple Originals Dickinson, For All MankindSee, and The Morning Show, which received second-season orders.

Amazon has renewed The Lord of the Rings for season 2, while season 1 is still early in pre-production in New Zealand, Deadline reported. Season 1 will have a break in filming so that the writers room can reassemble to write season 2 scripts, which may allow simultaneous or back-to-back filming of seasons 1 and 2. The series is expected in 2021.

Marvel’s Runaways is the latest series developed under Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb to get the axe. Loeb is expected to announce his exit before the Thanksgiving holiday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. All 1o episodes of the young superhero series’ third season will drop on Hulu on December 13.

It’s official: The Mandalorian season 2 is underway. Earlier this year, series creator Jon Favreau revealed that he was working on season 2 scripts, but, as any film or TV writer can tell you, a script does not equal a green light. In a post on Instagram, Favreau sent “Greetings from the set of #TheMandalorian season 2,” which is enough proof for us.

Leave it to magical monster hunter Geralt of Rivia to find a way to return before he’s even arrived. Netflix has renewed fantasy series The Witcher for season 2 ahead of its premiere. Henry Cavill stars as the titular adventurer in the series that launches on December 20. The series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels and short stories, also stars Freya Allan as Ciri and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil) is showrunner on the title, which will likely find an audience with gamers thanks to CD Projekt Red’s enormously popular and critically-acclaimed video game series based on the character.

Gather ’round, witches and warlocks: Netflix has ordered 16 new episodes of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, in addition to the nine-episode Part Two that is set to premiere on April 5, 2019.

Said creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa in a statement announcing the news,  “Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television, and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch. And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”

The new episodes will air in two parts (Parts Three and Four), and will begin filming in 2019. The series’ holiday special, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale, debuted on Dec. 14.

April showers bring May flowers — which means plenty of gloomy Sundays to stay in and catch up on your future favorite shows. Conveniently enough, the next 30 days are stuffed with returning seasons from some of TV’s hottest and most acclaimed series. We’ve rounded up the 11 you can’t miss below.

Angie Tribeca () 96%

What it is: A farcical spoof of primetime’s most recognizable crime procedurals, Angie Tribeca stars Rashida Jones as the titular detective, who serves up justice with straight-faced irreverence and ineptitude. The TBS series comes from the comedic minds of husband-wife duo Steve and Nancy Carrell.

Why you should watch it: If you’re in the camp who thinks that The Office was never quite the same without Michael Scott’s goofily obtuse sense of humor, then Angie Tribeca may just be for you. The spoof series is unapologetically silly, stacking up the gags like bodies at a crime scene. Jones is pitch-perfect as Angie and is assisted by a capable cast of series regulars and an impressive who’s-who of guest spots. Watch a clip of Star Trek leading man Chris Pine’s Season 3 arc here.

Where to watch: Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Microsoft, PlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 10 hours

Archer () 91%

What it is: Even the sleekest of action-packed espionage thrillers have an air of cartoonish hyperbole to them (James Bond’s invisible car, anyone?), but FXX’s Archer does away with that suspension of belief by making the whole thing a cartoon to begin with. The half-hour comedy from creator Adam Reed can land a joke as deftly as its titular man-child spy can land a punch, so expect to be thrilled while laughing yourself silly and battling evil.

Why you should watch it: Over seven hit seasons, Archer has never shied away from genre experimentation. Season 8, which premieres April 5, takes its biggest risk yet with Archer Dreamland, a 1940s-style noir crime thriller set within its own Sterling Archer’s dream. That means entirely new characters for the series’ beloved ensemble of voice actors (though it’s all a beautiful spin on their defining characteristics). But to truly appreciate the new season, viewers need to have the emotional and intellectual foundation of the seasons before it. That’s where the payoff is. And don’t worry; enjoying Season 8 in full is just the cherry on top of binging one of the funniest and most astutely written genre series on TV today.

Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNOWGoogle Play, iTunes, Microsoft, NetflixPlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 42.5 hours

Better Call Saul () 98%

What it is: Ever wonder how, exactly, Breaking Bad’s Saul Goodman got to be so darn slimy? AMC’s acclaimed spinoff, Better Call Saul, is here to help. The companion series satisfyingly builds on the original Vince Gilligan drama while also coherently etching an identity of its own for viewers of all proclivities.

Why you should watch it: Better Call Saul takes a character we think we already know and breaks him down to the nuts and bolts of who and what molded the man Breaking Bad‘s Walter White eventually meets in that Albuquerque, New Mexico strip mall. Played wonderfully by Bob Odenkirk in what could become his career-defining (certainly career-changing) role, Saul — still known as Jimmy Mcgill three seasons in — and his uneasy partnership with Jonathan Banks’ Mike Ehrmantraut are must-watch TV for any Breaking Bad die-hard.

Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNOWGoogle Play, iTunes, Microsoft, NetflixPlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 15 hours

Bosch () 97%

What it is: Titus Welliver stars as Harry Bosch, a steely, determined homicide detective keeping watch over the City of Angels in this Amazon original series. Each season follows one major case and strikes the perfect balance between contemporary crime grit and smooth, yesteryear noir.

Why you should watch it: Bosch may be the best crime series you’ve never heard of. Change that! With his roots firmly in the crime genre from Homicide: The Movie and Law & Order (both of which earned him Emmy nominations in 2000 and 2002, respectively), co-creator Eric Ellis Overmyer is a seasoned vet of the genre. He knows his way around the daily dramas of LAPD homicide and proves the perfect collaborator for the source material’s author, Michael Connelly.

Where to watch: Amazon Prime, iTunes

Commitment: About 15 hours

Catastrophe () 98%

What it is: Here’s a romantic comedy squarely for adults. Amazon’s very funny Catastrophe shows what happens when a no-strings-attached week of sex between a visiting American businessman (Rob Delaney) and an Irish schoolteacher (Sharon Horgan) turns into an unexpected pregnancy, a move overseas, and a proposal. And that’s just in the first episode.

Why you should watch it: Co-creators and stars Horgan and Delaney perfectly blend comedy and heart in their utterly original spin on the classic sitcom. Plus, their airtight scripts full of rat-a-tat dialogue are about as joyously quippy and naturalistic as they come. (Judging from the pair’s now-famous Twitter accounts, that comes as little surprise.) And did we mention Carrie Fisher co-stars? Just watch it.

Commitment: About 6 hours

Doctor Who () 90%

What it is: This long-running sci-fi/fantasy series — one of the most imaginative twists on time-travel adventure ever — centers on an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who jumps time and space with various (usually human) companions while saving extraterrestrial civilizations from certain doom.

Why you should watch it: Tell any Doctor Who fan that you’re about to start the beloved Brit transplant series and they’re likely to turn green with envy; there’s only one first time with the Doctor, and it’s always a transporting experience. At the very least, binge from 2013’s seasons to now with Oscar winner Peter Capaldi as the eponymous time-traveler; premiering April 15, season 10 will be his final run.

Where to watch: Amazon Prime, Google Play, iTunes, Microsoft, PlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: The series spans several decades, but if you were to begin with the 2005 reboot, it’s about 92 hours.

Fargo () 93%

What it is: Based on the Coen brothers film of the same name, FX’s anthological miniseries explores new characters, new crimes, and new eras tangentially related to the film each season, deftly adapting the trademark Coen brothers mix of violence, dark humor, and compelling characters for the small screen.

Why you should watch it: What do Kirsten Dunst, Billy Bob Thornton, Ewan McGregor, Jesse Plemons, Carrie Coon, Jean Smart, Bob Odenkirk, Martin Freeman, Patrick Wilson, and Jim Gaffigan all have in common? They’ve all starred (or come season 3, will star) in the small-screen adaptation of Fargo, and that impressive cast alone makes it worth watching. FX and Noah Hawley’s Fargo is at least in part to blame for the rise and saturation of prestige mini-series and limited series, and for good reason. An ingenious blend of humor — both silly and gallows — and enrapturing crime mystery, the series succeeds in translating its Oscar-winning source material into Emmy-winning must-see TV.

Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNow, Google Play, iTunesMicrosoft, PlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 18 hours

iZombie () 92%

What it is: Rose McIver stars in this graphic novel adaptation from co-creators Diane Ruggiero and Rob Thomas as Olivia, a medical student-turned-zombie who inexplicably begins reliving the memories of the cadavers whose brains she’s eating and utilizes this newfound power to pass herself off as a psychic and help police in the name of justice.

Why you should watch it: While a cognizant zombie girl humanely gorging on brains at the morgue and using information miraculously gathered there to aid police in unsolved murders sounds far-fetched at best, trust us here: the formula works. Never too off kilter to lose its bite (no pun intended), McIver is utterly watchable as our undead hero, and we can’t wait to see what she does in season 3.

Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNow, Google Play, iTunesMicrosoft, NetflixPlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 13 hours

The Leftovers () 91%

What it is: Lead by Justin Theroux in the performance of his career, The Leftovers follows several characters trying to make sense of their lives after a rapture-like phenomenon claims 2 percent of the world’s population and leaves the rest of humanity behind.

Why you should watch it: Despite all the signs — literally — saying, “You are not welcome here,” HBO and showrunner Damon Lindelof’s adaptation of Tom Perrotta’s novel of the same name will suck you in and never let go, as you grapple with questions of morality and mortality in the best of ways. Catch up on the first 20 episodes before its third and final season premieres on April 16.

Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNow, Google Play, iTunesMicrosoft, PlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 20 hours

Prison Break () 61%

What it is: Sentenced to death row for a murder he did not commit, an innocent man plans a daring prison escape with his brother, and the two soon find themselves embroiled in a vast conspiracy as they attempt to clear his name.

Why you should watch it: While it may seem like Prison Break is jumping on the bandwagon of reboots and sequels, it’s a series that’s earned a closing coda for Michael (Wentworth Miller), Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies). The first four seasons successfully expanded on the series’ high-concept premise and fleshed out a cast of memorable characters in dire circumstances, so it’s safe to say that creator Paul Scheuring won’t steer his audience wrong in the upcoming nine-episode revival. Catch up on the original run before the story comes full circle.

Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNow, Google Play, iTunesMicrosoft, NetflixPlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 61 hours

Veep () 93%

What it is: Selina Meyer is an anti-heroine for the ages as a former senator and now Vice President of the United States who curses like a sailor and handles the things her predecessor never bothered to attend to.

Why you should watch it: There are few comedic performances as decorated as Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ turn in HBO and creator Armando Iannucci’s Veep (a record-tying five Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, to be exact). That alone is reason enough to watch this series, but still, it seems to get better year after year. While Veep started out as a hilarious satire of the goings-on in our country’s capitol, it’s proven over the last year to be more of a premonitory look at what’s to come in the West Wing — making it as relevant and darkly funny as ever.

Where to watch: Amazon (S1, S2 on Prime), FandangoNow, Google Play, iTunesMicrosoft, PlayStation Video, Vudu

Commitment: About 24 hours

This week in TV news, Henry Rollins could have been on TWD, two beloved comedies are back, it’s Emmy voting time, and more!

HENRY ROLLINS COULD’VE BEEN NEGAN ON THE WALKING DEAD

HenryRollins 700x380

In a recent interview with Forbes Magazine, Henry Rollins revealed that he auditioned to play Negan on The Walking Dead. Rollins told Forbes, “I went for the audition and there were five pages of really cool dialogue with all these curses and it was beautiful, but I didn’t get it. I later saw a photograph of the guy who did get it and he looks almost exactly like the comic book rendering.” The part of Negan is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM AND MADTV RETURN TO TV

curb and madtv

The return of two classic fan-favorite comedies hit the TV headlines this week. First, HBO announced on Tuesday the anticipated return of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, but there is no set premiere date at his time. When asked about the reason for bringing the show back, David replied, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’” Also reported, the CW made public the premiere date of the new MadTV reboot along with the names of its new cast members, which include Michelle Ortiz (Life in Pieces), Lyric Lewis (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Amir K (Argo) among others. The new MadTV premieres Tuesday, July 26 at 9 p.m. on the CW.

AMERICAN GODS’ CASTING JUST KEEPS GETTING MORE AWESOME

Orlando Jones

Starz announced this week that Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) will play Mr. Nancy in the upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel, American Gods. Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) has also been added to the cast as Mr. Ibis. Jones and Barnes join an impressive list of previously announced stars, which includes Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Jonathan Tucker, Gillian Anderson, Peter Stormare, and Cloris Leachman.

ANGIE TRIBECA THROWS HER HAT IN THE RING FOR AN EMMY NOM

"ANGIE TRIBECA" "Data Breach" / Ep 204 TBS Ph: Katrina Marcinowski

It’s Emmy voting season, and the first round of voting will be open for the next two weeks in order to narrow the very large field of potential nominees. Show’s have been campaigning for months, but one clip in particular is making the rounds this week. Rashida Jones’ cop procedural parody, Angie Tribeca, just released an Emmys consideration clip that’s dripping with gravitas. In it Jones explains why the show matters, and why it deserves an Emmy, and maybe something bigger than an Emmy — if something like that even exists.

From the highly acclaimed to the aw-that’s-a-shame, these are the best and worst reviewed television series by network. Unsurprisingly, networks with just a few shows, like BBC America and TBS, fared much better overall than those with more. Even with 10 shows on the docket, though, HBO still managed to stay entirely Fresh; its lowest-rated series is Animals at 60 percent. See below for the full breakdown.

Networks

Series included are currently on the air and have not aired their final episode as of May 18th, 2016.

With The Nice Guys, writer/director Shane Black returns to the volatile buddy-cop template that defined his early writing career with hits like Lethal WeaponThe Last Boy Scout, and The Long Kiss Goodnight. Ryan Gosling is one-half of said Nice Guys, a down-on-his-luck detective in the ’70s and his whole steez inspires this week’s 24 Frames gallery: the wackiest private eyes ever to grace film and television.

As we ramp up into summer, we reflect upon the 2016 winter/spring season, which brought with it a handful of top-notch TV shows worthy of Certified Fresh status. Whether they be series premieres or new seasons of returning shows, we’ve got all of them here in one place for you. Did your favorites make the list? Sound off in the comments below.

summer prem collage

While not as chock full of premieres as the fall TV season, summer can churn out some doozies of its own. Like we did around this time last year, we’ll be treated to shows that draw immediate engagement (Mr. Robot, Penny Dreadful, Orange is the New Black, Wayward Pines), television movie premieres (Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, The Dresser, All The Way), and special events (Just Let Go – Lenny Kravitz Live, Every Brilliant Thing, SyFy Presents Live from Comic-Con). Add some anticipated series premieres (Roadies, Lady Dynamite, Outcast, Preacher) and miniseries (Roots, Houdini & Doyle, O.J.: Made in America) to the mix, and your DVR hard drives are sure to reach max capacity. So the questions is, which shows will you be deleting first, and which will rise to the pinnacle of your summer viewing list of faves? Check out the full (ever growing) list here:

Summer draws ever closer, and while there are a lot of great movies to catch, we know you can’t spend all of your time and money going to the theater. Luckily, there’s a lot of great stuff to catch on the small screen, too. With that in mind, here are five choices we think are worth your precious binge time in May.

Penny Dreadful () 91%

Penny-Dreadful-Binge

What it is: Penny Dreadful creates a frightening variant of Victorian London, where horrific figures from classic literature such as Dr. Frankenstein, the Creature, and Dorian Grey co-exist and terrorize the city.

Why you should watch it: It’s gory, it’s sexy, it’s action-packed, and it’s full of high drama, often with a supernatural twist, which makes for a highly addictive combination. Plus, it’s a lot of fun watching Eva Green vamp it up as a gothic femme fatale alongside Timothy Dalton, with his dignified swagger. Critics agreed, too: season one is Certified Fresh at 78 percent, and season two sits at 100 percent. With season three premiering on the first of May, you might as well get caught up before you tune in.

Where to watch: Amazon, Google PlayiTunes, PlayStation VideoVudu, Showtime Anytime with a cable subscription, and you can watch the season three premiere for free now on Rotten Tomatoes

Commitment: About 16 hours

Bloodline () 62%

Bloodline-Binge

What it is: A successful Florida family is forced to contend with dark secrets from their past when their troubled, estranged brother returns home and begins to shake things up.

Why you should watch it: Bloodline is simply the latest drama to prove the folks over at Netflix know how to deliver high quality television. The cast — which includes Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Sam Shepard, and Sissy Spacek, among others — is absolutely top notch, and the writing walks a fine line between psychodrama and crime thriller territory. Season two drops in its entirety on May 27, which gives you plenty of time to run through the first season’s 13 episodes.

Where to watch: Netflix

Commitment: 13 hours

Wayward Pines () 60%

Wayward-Pines-Binge

What it is: A US Secret Service agent involved in a car accident wakes up in a small town he is mysteriously unable to leave and whose peculiar residents share a dark secret.

Why you should watch it: Consider this a mix of David Lynch and M. Night Shyamalan; the former’s Twin Peaks series and overall aesthetic serve as a clear inspiration for Wayward Pines, while the latter infuses the show with his own twisted sensibilities as executive producer. Beyond that, the cast is peppered with vets like Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Melissa Leo, and Toby Jones, among others, and its sharp storytelling will keep you guessing. Season two premieres on May 25, so there’s plenty of time to jump on board this crazy train.

Where to watch: AmazonGoogle Play, HuluiTunes, Microsoft, PlayStation Video, and Vudu

Commitment: About 7 hours

Angie Tribeca () 96%

Angie-Tribeca-Binge

What it is: In the vein of Police Squad! comes this hysterical slapstick single-camera police procedural spoof created by Steve and Nancy Carell.

Why you should watch it: An homage to the Leslie Nielsen school of deadpan farce, Angie Tribeca revels in its drop-dead serious devotion to ridiculous humor. Fans of silly sight gags and absurd one-liners will find lots to appreciate, and folks like Lisa Kudrow, Danny Trejo, and Gene Simmons turn in hilarious cameos to up the laugh factor. It’s unclear if TBS will make season two — which premieres on June 6 — available in full, like they did with season one, but those of you who missed out on it during its first run can catch it on DVD on May 17.

Where to watch: AmazonGoogle Play, iTunes, Microsoft, PlayStation VideoVudu, and on tbs.com with a cable subscription

Commitment: 3.5 hours

UnREAL () 80%

UnReal-Binge

What it is: As a behind-the-scenes look at the reality competition television industry, UnREAL is a darkly compelling exploration of humanity vs. commercial success.

Why you should watch it: The fascination comes with the understanding that it is loosely based on the real life experience of showrunner Sarah Gertrude Shapiro. The show-within-a-show, Everlasting, can be compared to several reality dating competition shows currently airing, and the real tensions and drama occur behind the camera.

Where to watch: Amazon, Google PlayHulu, iTunes, MicrosoftPlayStation Video, and Vudu

Commitment: Just over 7 hours

February is a great month for curling up in front of the TV with a warm fleece blanket, a hot cup of cocoa, and a good show, especially if you’re snowed in. Plus, we’ve got a bunch of great series returning later in the month (and in early March), so it’s the perfect time to get caught up, and there are a couple of brand new shows that will be available to stream right away. With that in mind, here are ten shows you should definitely consider binge-watching in February.

House of Cards: Season 3 () 73%

House-of-Cards

What it is: A wily and ambitious congressman utilizes his considerable influence to climb his way up the political ladder, manipulating colleagues along the way and leaving unsuspecting victims in his wake.

Why you should watch it: Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey, who just won a SAG award on Saturday) is not a nice man, but he is, for better or worse, the show’s central figure. He manipulates, wheedles, gladhands, seethes, rants, negotiates, and plots behind closed doors, all to fulfill his personal vendettas. His wife, Claire (in an award-winning performance by Robin Wright) is his formidable ally through it all. Use February to get caught up on the Underwoods’ shenanigans, so you’re ready for the season four premiere on Netflix on March 4th.

Where to watch: All four seasons are on Netflix, Amazon, Google Play, PlayStation Video, Vudu, and Microsoft Store.

Commitment: 36 hours.

Bates Motel: Season 3 () 95%

BatesMotel

What it is: In this contemporary Psycho prequel series, a bizarre mother-son relationship between Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) and the infamous Norman (Freddie Highmore) leads to violence and mental turbulence after moving to a small town in Oregon and opening a creepy motel.

Why you should watch it: This is one of those rare prequels that actually works. Fans of the Psycho franchise can enjoy along with folks who aren’t familiar; it works as a standalone story line. The top-notch cast effectively takes stabs at subtle — and not-so-subtle — intricacies in delivery, ultimately perfecting characters designed to disturb. With season four premiering on March 7, now is an ideal time to catch up on this exploration of lives so warped, they can’t help but delight.

Where to watch: A&E TV (with cable subscription), Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, NetflixPlayStation Video, and Vudu, as well as on DVD and Blu-ray.

Commitment: 25 hours.

Girls: Season 4 () 83%

Girls

What it is: HBO’s hit comedy about four twenty-something female friends (Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, and Zosia Mamet) navigating life, and all it throws at them, while living in the Big Apple.

Why you should watch it: For one person to executive produce, write, and star in a show is almost reason enough to give it a chance to win you over. Dunham wears almost all the hats behind the scenes, and drew from her own real-life experiences as she poured her blood, sweat, and tears into Girls. So far, every season of Girls has been Certified Fresh, which is no small feat. Dive in now, and you’ll be ready for the season five premiere on HBO on February 21st.

Where to watch: All four seasons are on Amazon (with season one on Amazon Prime), Google Play, PlayStation Video, Vudu, Microsoft Store, and HBO GO.

Commitment: 21 hours.

()

Show-Me-A-Hero

What it is: Inspired by real life events and based on the nonfiction book of the same name, Show Me a Hero tells the story of the vitriolic dispute over a federally mandated order to build public housing in the middle class neighborhoods of Yonkers, NY.

Why you should watch it: David Simon wrote, produced and created this series with Wire alum and journalist William F. Zorzi. There is no doubt Simon is amply skilled at bringing to light those things we need to see, hear and feel — and his most recent miniseries for HBO reminds us just how lucky we are to have him telling such stories. Under the direction of Paul Haggis, and anchored by an immensely talented cast lead by Oscar Isaac, Show Me a Hero is bingeworthy material of the highest caliber.

Where to watch: Amazon PrimeGoogle Play, HBO Go, MicrosoftVudu, and also on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Commitment: About 6 hours.

Angie Tribeca: Season 1 () 89%

AngieTribeca

What it is: In the vein of Police Squad! comes this hysterical slapstick single-camera police procedural spoof created by Steve and Nancy Carell.

Why you should watch it: An homage to the Leslie Nielsen school of deadpan farce, Angie Tribeca satisfies with its drop-dead serious devotion to ridiculous humor. Whether it’s fake grandparents being assigned to detectives who go deep, deep under cover (with deep voices), or an officer puking upon his every entrance to a crime scene, no matter the level of the crime, fans of the silly-funny will be amused, especially with guest appearances from folks like Lisa Kudrow, Danny Trejo, and Gene Simmons. The series is currently airing on TBS, but the first season is also available to stream in its entirety, for your binge-watching pleasure.

Where to watch: Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, PlayStation Video, and TBS.com (with a cable subscription).

Commitment: 5 hours.

Broad City: Season 2 () 100%

Broad-City

What it is: Ilana and Abbi are twenty somethings navigating life in the big apple. Their voyages lead to an array of awkward, charmingly weird, sometimes cringeworthy and oftentimes out-right hysterical tomfoolery.

Why you should watch it: Created by UCB comedian alums Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer and Executive Produced by Amy Poehler, Broad City has some seriously funny, talented women behind the show. Ilana and Abbi have dynamic chemistry and a unique humanizing brand of comedy. It’s no wonder the show has amassed loyal fans, the praise of critics — and Comedy Central’s recent order for a season four and five.

Where to watch: Amazon, Google PlayHulu, MicrosoftVudu, and on DVD.

Commitment: About 4 hours.

Peaky Blinders: Season 2 () 100%

PeakyBlinders

What it is: This BBC drama, available in the US as a Netflix Original, follows the rise of the notorious Peaky Blinders gang in post-WWI England.

Why you should watch it: Come for the lush production design and pulsating score — stay for the badass performances. Cillian Murphy delivers as the icy-stared leader of the hardscrabble family gang. Helen McCrory is stellar as the hard as nails matriarch and — TOM HARDY. Although you’ll have to wait for season two for it, Hardy’s turn as baker-cum-vicious gang leader Alfie Solomons is a gift from the television gods.

Where to watch: AmazonGoogle Play, iTunes, MicrosoftNetflixPlaystation, and Vudu.

Commitment: 12 hours.

Togetherness: Season 1 () 93%

Togetherness

What it is: A married couple struggling with relationship issues take on two new tenants: the husband’s recently evicted buddy and the wife’s recently dumped sister.

Why you should watch it: This is the first television series created by Jay and Mark Duplass, who have worked both together and independently on a number of critically acclaimed films and TV series, ranging from Baghead and Cyrus to Transparent and The League. If you’re a fan of their typically understated, frequently poignant brand of comedy, Togetherness will feel just right. The show’s simple premise also allows its characters to breathe and behave like real people, which makes it all feel authentic and hit home harder. With its second season premiering on February 21, now’s the perfect time for HBO subscribers to catch up if they missed it the first time around.

Where to watch: HBO GO

Commitment: About 3.5 hours.

Love: Season 1 () 87%

NetflixLove

What it is: Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust play a young couple experiencing the ups and downs of commitment in an adult relationship.

Why you should watch it: There isn’t a whole lot of information available about Love at the moment, but we do know that it was co-created by Judd Apatow (alongside star Rust) and stars Gillian Jacobs, who proved her impeccable comic timing on the recent cult favorite NBC comedy Community. We also know that it will be dropping on Netflix, which has an excellent track record with original programming, and they’ve tackled similar material in Aziz Ansari’s Master of None with spectacular results. In other words, when the entire first season of Love becomes available on Netflix on February 19, you should check it out because all indications are pointing to another solid hit.

Where to watch: Season one will become available on Netflix on February 19.

Commitment: 5 hours.

Full House: Season 1 () 40%

FullerHouse

What it is: Suddenly widowed dad Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) enlists brother-in-law Jesse (John Stamos) and childhood friend Joey (Dave Coulier) to move in and help raise his three daughters. D.J.(Candace Cameron) is the oldest at 10, followed by 5-year old Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and toddler Michelle (played interchangeably by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen).

Why you should watch it: The first season has the most balanced comedy, emphasizing the adult tribulations of three bachelors who grapple with the logistics of raising young girls and coming to terms with a family death. As the Olsens matured, the show played up their tubular cuteness and the humor became more slapstick and broad as the seasons wore on, though there were also frequent arcs on dating and marriage. Netflix’s Fuller House sequel, set to premiere on February 26, parallels the original with D.J., now a suddenly widowed mother of three sons, moving into her childhood home with the help of Stephanie and original series next door neighbor Kimmy Gibbler.

Where to watch: Amazon, Google Play, Microsoft, Playstation, and on DVD.

Commitment: 70 hours.
