Want to be among the first people to see one of the buzziest performances – and most anticipated films – of the year? Well, what you want… baby, we’ve got it.
Jennifer Hudson was handpicked by Aretha Franklin herself to play the superstar in the upcoming musical biopic, Respect, and early word is that the singer-actress more than honors the icon with a deeply moving performance and a set of stirring musical numbers that capture the voice that moved the soul of the world.
You can be among the first to see and hear Hudson in action by attending a Fandango Premiere: Early Access screening on August 8th – a week before the movie is officially released.
Plus, as a bonus, those who choose to see Respect early on August 8th will be treated to a special pre-show that includes an exclusive interview with Hudson, in which the Academy Award® winner goes in-depth with Rotten Tomatoes on how she worked to inhabit Franklin’s spirit on stage and off, where the singer was a fierce advocate for Civil Rights.
The movie, which has dominated “Most Anticipated” lists for the year, follows Franklin from her childhood singing in her controlling father’s church choir to international superstardom, charting the journey of a generational talent finding her voice in the spotlight and in her own life.
Respect is the feature-film debut of acclaimed stage director Liesl Tommy, who has assembled an all-star cast that includes Forest Whitaker as Franklin’s father, Audra McDonald as her mother, Marlon Wayans as her husband, Ted White, and Mary J. Blige as 1950s jazz legend Dinah Washington.
And, just as importantly for fans of the Queen of Soul, the “set list” includes “Think,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Respect” – of course – and many more.
You can see, hear, and dance to Respect in theaters everywhere from August 13th or get the jump on the world and catch it at a special FP: Early Access screening on August 8th.
