Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are officially stepping back into Panem. According to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, the duo will reprise their roles in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the sixth installment in the blockbuster franchise.
Nearly eight years after Mockingjay, Part 2 closed the saga of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, Lionsgate is reigniting the series with a new chapter.
Following the success of 2023’s prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the studio is adapting Suzanne Collins‘ 2025 novel, which bridges the gap between the prequel and Katniss’s original story. Directed once again by Francis Lawrence and produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, Sunrise on the Reaping takes audiences back 24 years before the first Hunger Games film.
The story centers on a young Haymitch Abernathy as he faces the brutal 50th Hunger Games (the infamous Second Quarter Quell), where the number of tributes was doubled, making it the deadliest Games in Panem’s history.
While the film focuses on Haymitch’s fight for survival, fans can expect an epilogue (as featured in the Sunrise on the Reaping novel), depicting an older Katniss and Peeta, reuniting Lawrence and Hutcherson on screen for the first time since 2015.
While further details remain under wraps, click here to read more on everything we know about The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, releasing in theaters worldwide on November 20, 2026.
Netflix announced Friday that it has entered a landmark agreement to acquire the bulk of Warner Bros. Discovery’s film and television operations—including the storied Warner Bros. studio and streaming platform HBO Max—in a megadeal valued at $82.7 billion.
The agreement concludes a weeks-long bidding war that saw Paramount–Skydance and Comcast each attempt to snag the century-old studio. Under the deal’s structure, Warner Bros. Discovery will first spin off its cable assets—including CNN, TNT, and Discovery—into a separate public company before the acquisition closes, a process expected to wrap by late 2026.
For Netflix, already the world’s largest paid streaming service with over 300 million subscribers, the purchase represents a dramatic expansion of its empire. Combining with Warner Bros.’ powerhouse franchises and HBO’s programming would create a streaming hub with unprecedented leverage across theaters and the media.
The move also underscores tech’s full takeover of Hollywood. Amazon paved the way with its 2022 MGM acquisition, but Netflix’s cash-heavy offer signals a new era. Notably, Netflix has pledged to maintain theatrical releases for Warner Bros. films, a shift for a company long associated with at-home viewing dominance.
Once finalized, the merger is poised to reshape the streaming landscape and likely set off a fresh wave of consolidation as smaller studios race to keep up.

Scarlett Johansson is potentially swooping into Gotham City. Four years after departing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the two-time Oscar nominee is gearing up for a major comic-book crossover as she enters final negotiations to join The Batman Part II, the long-awaited sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 film.
Reeves returns to direct and co-write the script with Mattson Tomlin, continuing the world he built in the first installment, which earned over $770 million worldwide and launched a Penguin spinoff for HBO Max. Robert Pattinson will once again suit up as Bruce Wayne, with production planned to begin next spring ahead of the film’s October 1, 2027 release. While Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman is not expected to return, Johansson’s mysterious role signals a new direction for the sequel.
The casting plan comes during a busy stretch for Johansson, who recently headlined the box-office hit Jurassic World: Rebirth and made her directorial debut with the Cannes-premiering Eleanor the Great. Plot details and character specifics remain tightly under wraps, but Johansson potentially joining the DC universe has fans excited.

Sabrina Carpenter is heading down the rabbit hole! The pop sensation is set to star in and produce a new Alice in Wonderland-inspired movie musical for Universal Pictures, and it’s shaping up to be a dream project for the singer-songwriter-turned-Hollywood triple threat.
Behind the camera is writer-director Lorene Scafaria, who will be at the forefront of the reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s beloved story. Scafaria’s recent work includes HBO’s new comedy I Love LA, which she executive produces, as well as acclaimed episodes of Succession. Her 2019 hit Hustlers scored rave reviews and earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Director.
Helping bring this whimsical world to life is producer Marc Platt, the powerhouse behind La La Land, Legally Blonde, and both the stage and screen versions of Wicked. He’s teaming up with Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton, whose credits include fan favorites like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars.
While plot details are still under wraps, sources say the film is a passion project for Carpenter, who just earned six Grammy nominations for her hit album Man’s Best Friend. Carpenter’s film and television credits include The Hate U Give, Emergency, Clouds, and Girl Meets World.

HBO is developing a television adaptation of V for Vendetta, the fan-favorite dystopian story originally created by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.
Originally published in 1982 as a comic serial before being acquired by DC in 1988, V for Vendetta is set in a near-future Britain ruled by a fascist regime. The story follows V, an anarchist revolutionary in a Guy Fawkes mask, who plots to overthrow the government with the help of a young woman named Evey Hammond.
The graphic novel was famously adapted into a 2005 film directed by James McTeigue and written by the Wachowskis, starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman. The film grossed over $130 million worldwide and has since become a modern classic. Warner Bros. plans to re-release it in theaters in November 2026 to mark its 20th anniversary.
According to insiders, writer Pete Jackson (not to be confused with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson) is attached to the project, with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran serving as executive producers alongside Ben Stephenson of Poison Pen and Leanne Klein of Wall to Wall Media, part of Warner Bros. Television Studios UK.
If greenlit, the show would join HBO’s growing roster of DC live-action series, following the success of The Penguin, the acclaimed spin-off of The Batman that earned nine Emmy Awards, including a win for Cristin Milioti.

Warner Bros. is breathing new life into the Gremlins franchise, with a brand new chapter slated to hit theaters on November 19, 2027. The announcement came from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg will once again serve as executive producer via Amblin Entertainment, while Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) is stepping in to both direct and produce. The screenplay is being crafted by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the duo behind Final Destination: Bloodlines.
Additional producers include Kristie Macosko Krieger, Holly Bario, Michael Barnathan, and Mark Radclifffe.
While plot details and casting remain under wraps, the revival follows the success of Secrets of the Mogwai, an animated prequel series that debuted in 2023 and ran for two seasons on HBO Max, rekindling interest in the mischievous creatures.
The original Gremlins film, released in 1984 and directed by Joe Dante, combined horror and comedy to introduce audiences to Gizmo, a cuddly creature known as a Mogwai with strict care rules that, when broken, unleash chaos in terrifying and amusing ways. The film became a massive hit, earning over $160 million worldwide.
The sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, arrived in 1990. Though it failed to match the original’s box office success, it has since gone on to amass a cult following, even inspiring a popular Key & Peele sketch.
The upcoming film will mark the franchise’s first theatrical release in 37 years, promising a nostalgic yet fresh return for old and new fans.

It’s official… KPop Demon Hunters 2 is happening! Just over two months after its Netflix debut, the Certified Fresh animated musical has been greenlit for a second installment, which aims to premiere in the year 2029. The film quickly became Netflix’s most popular movie of all time, surpassing hits like Red Notice, Carry-On, and Bird Box.
Created by Sony Animation, KPop Demon Hunters follows Huntr/x, a fictional K-pop girl group who use their music to protect the world from demons. Sony’s licensing deal with Netflix brought the film to the streaming platform, where it found its massive global popularity.
Beyond its streaming success, Netflix and Sony also hosted two limited theatrical runs for the film: a sing-along event and a Halloween weekend re-release, which together grossed over $20 million.
And of course, the soundtrack played a huge part in its success. With chart-topping tracks like “Golden” spending weeks on the Billboard 200’s top 10, Huntr/x’s music has taken the world by storm. The real artists behind the group have since performed on late-night television and are set to appear in the upcoming Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
While specific talent deals of the sequel are still unknown, Netflix is closing the deal with the film’s directors, Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, as well as Sony.
Although the 2029 release is still a long way off, fans can revisit the original film in all its glory.

After starring in a pair of films that revived The Mummy for Universal Pictures, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are coming back to the franchise for a new film.
The directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as Radio Silence, is on board to helm the new installment after successfully reviving the Scream franchise with 2022’s Scream and its sequel, Scream VI.
Stephen Sommers directed the 1999 iteration of The Mummy, which adopted a more playful, swashbuckling tone than the classic Universal Monster film of its namesake and starred Fraser as treasure hunter Rick O’Connell and Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan, the librarian who gets swept up into Rick’s Indiana Jones-style adventure in 1920s Egypt.
The film went on to become a massive global hit and spawned a sequel, 2001’s The Mummy Returns, which found Fraser and Weisz reprising their roles, now as a married couple, and facing off once again with a resurrected Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo). Though Fraser returned for another sequel, 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Weisz was replaced by Maria Bello.
In 2017, Universal attempted to reboot the franchise again with Tom Cruise in the lead, this time with a larger connected cinematic universe in mind (the ill-fated “Dark Universe”), but the film performed poorly and the entire idea was scrapped.
Though we don’t have any further details about the new film, the original and its sequel are beloved fan favorites and cult classics in their own right, so the hope is that Fraser and Weisz can recapture some of that same magic.

It’s official! Hello Kitty is making her big-screen debut in the summer of 2028.
Warner Bros. Animation announced the release date via Instagram, captioning the post “Hello Hollywood” and “#HelloKittyMovie is coming to theaters July 21, 2028!”
While plot details remain under wraps, the film will be directed by Leo Matsuda, known for his work on Disney’s Inner Workings, Zootopia, and Wreck-It Ralph. The script is being written by Wicked screenwriter Dana Fox. Producers Beau Flynn and Shelby Thomas of Flynn Picture Company (currently wrapping production on Disney’s live-action Moana starring Dwayne Johnson) are also on board.
Japanese company Sanrio first introduced Hello Kitty in 1974, and the journey to bring her to theaters has been nearly a decade in the making. The beloved character, created by Yuko Shimizu, has since become a global icon, starring in animated series and appearing on countless merchandise lines.
The idea of a feature film began circulating in 2015, and by 2019, New Line Cinema and Flynn Picture Company were developing an English-language adaptation. This marked the first time Sanrio licensed Hello Kitty (and several of its other beloved characters) to a major Hollywood studio.
Though 2028 may feel far away, the countdown has officially begun. Fans around the world can now circle the date and get ready to say hello to Hello Kitty on the silver screen.

Martin Scorsese is stepping behind the camera once again, this time to direct What Happens at Night, an adaptation of Peter Cameron’s acclaimed ghost story novel. The film will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, marking the first time Scorsese directs the Oscar-winning actress.
Apple Original Films is in talks to finance and produce the project alongside Studiocanal, which secured the rights in 2023. Patrick Marber (Notes on a Scandal) is adapting the screenplay, with Scorsese also serving as producer.
Set in a mysterious, snowbound European city, the story follows an American couple (played by DiCaprio and Lawrence) on a journey to adopt a child. A synopsis for the novel details that “nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
Scorsese and DiCaprio’s long-standing creative partnership continues after six films together, including Killers of the Flower Moon, also backed by Apple. Lawrence, meanwhile, is riding high on Oscar buzz for Die My Love, which Scorsese produced and is set to release this November.
With this star-studded duo and Scorsese at the helm, What Happens at Night could shape up to be Hollywood’s next big film.

If you’ve owned any game console in the last 20 years or so, you’ve probably heard of the massively popular first-person shooter franchise known as Call of Duty. Well, thanks to Paramount, you’ll soon be able to witness all the modern warfare and black ops mayhem on the big screen, because the studio has struck a deal with video game company Activision to turn the action game into a movie.
Call of Duty is one of the most popular video game series, spanning dozens of games on consoles, PCs, and mobile since its introduction in 2003. The earliest installments were set in World War II, but the series soon expanded its scope to include the modern era. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the 22nd game in the primary series, is set to release on November 14, 2025.
Paramount CEO David Ellison said in a statement, “As a lifelong fan of Call of Duty this is truly a dream come true. From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love. Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.”
Likewise, Activision president Rob Kostich added, “With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started. Our shared goal is quite simple — to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise.”
There are no further details about the film, including when Paramount might plan to release it, but more information is sure to come as the project moves forward.

Break out some celebratory soda pop, because Netflix’s hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters may be back for another takedown.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Netflix and Sony, the studio behind the film, are currently in talks to develop a sequel to the surprise sensation, which debuted on the streamer on June 20, 2025 and built a massive word-of-mouth fanbase en route to becoming the most-watched English-language film in Netflix’s history (with 236 million views) and, after a surprise sing-along theatrical release just this past weekend, the first ever Netflix movie to win the box office with $18 million earned over just two days.
Its catchy soundtrack was also a runaway success, debuting at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart (the highest of any film soundtrack in 2025), and it became the first soundtrack to have four simultaneous Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including the No. 1 song, “Golden” (“Your Idol” is at No. 4, “Soda Pop” is at No. 5, and “How It’s Done” sits at No. 10).
The story centers on a popular K-pop group called Hunt/x whose three female members are also secretly demon hunters; when a group of demons decides to form a boy band to steal their fans, Huntr/x jumps into action.
The film was co-directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Applehans, who co-wrote the screenplay with Danya Jiminez and Hannah McMechan. Kang was inspired to come up with a culturally rooted story based on her own Korean heritage.
Since these are just preliminary talks, there’s no official word yet on the sequel, so it’s unknown if Kang and Applehans or the primary cast — Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo — will return. We also don’t know if the sequel would be another streaming film exclusive to Netflix, or if it might debut theatrically. Considering the success of the first film, more updates should be forthcoming soon.
KPop Demon Hunters is available to stream now on Netflix.

The folks behind Cobra Kai — namely show creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg — are getting ready to offer their take on another beloved 1980s property, but this time, they’re taking a TV show to the big screen, instead of vice versa. The show in question? Knight Rider.
The hit action series originally aired on NBC from 1982-1986 and starred David Hasselhoff as a former LAPD detective who fights crime with the help of his technologically advanced talking car, known as KITT. The show spawned two sequel series (one in 1997 and one in 2008), a spin-off, three TV movies, and plenty of books, video games, and toys, as well as its own convention, called KnightCon.
Currently, Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg are in early talks to write the screenplay, while the latter two are in talks to direct. Hurwitz and Schlossberg previously co-wrote and co-directed 2008’s Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and 2012’s American Reunion.
All three will also produce the Knight Rider film for Universal, along with the husband-and-wife duo of The Fall Guy director David Leitch and Kelly McCormick through their company 87North Productions, and Gary Barber and Chris Stone of Spyglass.
The film has been in development for some time, with a script previously written by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. We don’t know what Hurwitz, Heald, and Schlossberg’s new version will look like or be about, but considering their ability to appeal to old generations and new by reimagining classic IP, KITT seems to be in good hands.

Scary Movie stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall are officially reuniting to return for the franchise’s sixth film, planned for next year.
The new film was announced back in April of 2024, with Miramax producing and Paramount Pictures set to distribute. Later that year, it was announced that Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans would be returning to produce and develop the project and write the script, but no cast had been revealed yet.
On August 15, 2025, Marlon Wayans posted an image on his Instagram of Hall and Faris from the original Scary Movie with a simple caption that included the “eyes” emoji with “SM6” underneath it, indicating that the two stars would be returning and setting off a flurry of celebratory reactions from fans.
The Scary Movie film series, which debuted in 2000 and spawned four sequels, parodies the horror film genre with timely pop culture references and slapstick comedy, and while none of them has been especially well regarded by audiences or critics, they have inspired a devoted cult fanbase over the years. Faris and Hall have starred in every installment except for the fifth, which also happens to carry the lowest Tomatometer and Popcornmeter scores (4% and 38%, respectively).
In a statement, the star duo said, “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).” Scary Movie 6 is currently scheduled to open in theaters on June 12, 2026.

New Line Cinema is officially moving forward with a new installment in the Final Destination franchise following the massive success of Final Destination: Bloodlines earlier this year.
Lori Evans Taylor, co-writer of Bloodlines, has been tapped to write the upcoming sequel. Released in May, Bloodlines marked the franchise‘s return after more than a decade and became its highest-grossing entry yet, raking in over $286 million worldwide.
Taylor, who previously co-wrote Bloodlines alongside Guy Busick (Ready or Not) from a story developed with Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts, will also return as producer with his wife Dianne McGunigle. Franchise veterans Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor are back producing, along with Toby Emmerich. Warren Zide will executive produce.
Since its debut in the early 2000s, Final Destination has earned over $983 million globally, making it New Line’s third-biggest horror franchise behind The Conjuring Universe and It. Famous for its core concept of cheating death, only for it to come back with a vengeance, the series remains a crowd favorite. No release date has been announced for the next chapter, but fans of the franchise can anticipate more high-stakes thrills.

Dave Bautista is officially in final talks to play the villainous Kurgan in Amazon MGM’s upcoming remake of the 1980s cult classic Highlander. If the deal closes, he’ll join a star-studded cast that includes Henry Cavill as the sword-wielding immortal Connor MacLeod and Russell Crowe as his mentor, Ramirez.
Directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick), the action-fantasy is set to begin filming in late September across locations in the UK and Hong Kong. The film is set to receive a theatrical release. Marisa Abela (Industry) is also attached in a leading role, with a script penned by Michael Finch. Producers include Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, Neal H. Moritz, Stahelski’s 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner.
Bautista’s potential casting has been years in the making. He was previously linked to the role nearly a decade ago, when a different version of the film was in development. Originally portrayed by Clancy Brown in the 1986 film, the Kurgan is a brutal immortal who hunts others like him to absorb their power.
This would mark another major project for Bautista at Amazon, where he’s become a familiar face. He starred in 2020’s My Spy and its sequel, recently wrapped The Wrecking Crew alongside Jason Momoa, and is also in talks to join Amazon’s upcoming Road House sequel.

The Spider-Verse is officially back with its newest project, Spider-Punk, now officially in early development at Sony Pictures Animation.
Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah, Nope), who voiced the mohawked, guitar-wielding Hobie Brown in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is teaming up with Ajon Singh to co-write the animated spin-off. While plot details are under wraps, fans can expect the film to spotlight the rebellious, punk-rock take on everyone’s favorite webcrawler.
Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk made his debut in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse alongside a plethora of other Spider-variants. He’s also set to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, slated to hit theaters June 25, 2027. That film will pick up right where Across left off, with Miles Morales trapped on Earth-42 and facing his most daring challenge yet – an evil variant of himself as The Prowler.
The Spider-Verse films have been nothing short of blockbuster magic for Sony. 2018’s Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse swung to $384 million worldwide, while its sequel nearly doubled that at $690 million.
Kaluuya, who won an Academy Award for his performance in 2021’s Judas and the Black Messiah, is no stranger to iconic roles, with credits in Black Panther and Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Nope. Outside the Spider-Verse, he’s also working on a live-action Barney movie for A24 and Mattel alongside Ayo Edebiri.
No release date yet for Spider-Punk has been confirmed, but fans should be excited to see Hobie Brown receive his own full-length feature film.

Paramount Pictures has officially announced that John Krasinski will once again helm the next chapter in the A Quiet Place saga, returning as writer and director for Part III, which is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
This marks a full-circle moment for Krasinski, whose original 2018 film launched his directing career. That film, along with its 2021 sequel, became both critical and box office successes. While casting details for the third installment remain under wraps, previous entries featured Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe as the surviving members of the Abbott family. Krasinski himself starred in the first film and made a brief cameo in the second.
The A Quiet Place franchise has continued to expand, most recently with the spinoff Day One, and has now grossed over $900 million worldwide. Set in a world ravaged by sound-sensitive alien predators, the series has captivated audiences with its eerie silence and surprising plot twists.
Talks of a third film have been circulating since 2022, when Krasinski first teased the idea. Initially eyed for a 2025 release, the project was delayed as he shifted focus to directing IF for Paramount. Production for Part III will be led by Krasinski’s Sunday Night Productions, in partnership with Allyson Seeger and Platinum Dunes, under a first-look deal with Paramount.
In the meantime, fans can rewatch all three A Quiet Place films, each being Certified Fresh on our Tomatometer.

Oscar-nominated director Lee Isaac Chung, best known for Minari and the recent 2024 summer blockbuster Twisters, is in talks to direct a new Ocean’s Eleven prequel for Warner Bros.
Set tentatively in 1960s Europe, the film is being developed by Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap banner, with a screenplay by Carrie Solomon, writer of A Family Affair, the 2024 rom-com starring Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.
While casting remains a mystery, early buzz once linked Robbie and her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling to the project. The story will draw inspiration from the original characters created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell, promising a fresh spin on the franchise’s signature blend of charm…and crime.
The Ocean’s series has long been a box office powerhouse, raking in over $1.4 billion globally across its various iterations, from the Clooney-led trilogy to the all-female Ocean’s 8 in 2018. Chung’s wide-ranging film background, which includes directing Munyurangabo, episodes of The Mandalorian, and the upcoming sci-fi adaptation The Traveler, has stirred excitement among Ocean’s franchise fans eager to see what he might bring to the iconic series.

Get ready for a sequel to My Best Friend’s Wedding, now officially in early development at Sony Pictures. Nearly three decades after the iconic 1997 rom-com graced our screens, acclaimed writer-director Celine Song (Past Lives, Materialists) is crafting the screenplay. Though she’s not slated to direct, Song’s knack for heartfelt storytelling and offbeat romance will be an exciting addition to the film.
Song’s Materialists, released by A24 and starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, recently grossed $50 million worldwide. Her first feature, Past Lives, earned two Academy Award nominations and brought in over $40 million globally. Both films are Certified Fresh on our Tomatometer.
The original film, released in 1997, starred Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney as childhood best friends who vowed to marry if still single at 28. As the deadline approaches, Michael (Mulroney) is about to wed someone else, prompting Jules (Roberts), now the maid of honor at the wedding, to sabotage the celebration.

In a recent interview promoting his Netflix thriller The Hunting Wives, Mulroney teased, “there is talk of a sequel.” When pressed for details, he remained tight-lipped: “I know nothing about it. Last I heard, quote, lawyers were talking, unquote.”
There’s no official word yet on whether Roberts, Mulroney, or any original cast members will return. But with Song at the helm of the script, fans of chaotic romance already have reason to get excited.

Taika Waititi is set to direct a new Judge Dredd film, bringing the iconic British comic character back to the big screen. Known for his work on Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, Waititi will collaborate with screenwriter Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) to develop the project.
The film is being produced by Chris and Jason Kingsley and Ben Smith of Rebellion Developments, which holds the rights to the Judge Dredd character. Additional producers include Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, Jeremy Platt, Natalie Viscuso, and Pearce.
Sources say Waititi and Pearce have been longtime fans of 2000 AD, the comic magazine where Judge Dredd originated. Their film adaptation of Dredd is expected to draw more heavily from the original source material, featuring lots of dark humor and satire.
Judge Dredd was created in the late 1970s by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra. Set in the dystopian Mega-City One, the character serves as a law enforcement officer with the authority to act as judge, jury, and executioner.
Previous film adaptations include a 1995 version starring Sylvester Stallone, which received negative reviews, and a 2012 reboot starring Karl Urban and written by Alex Garland (28 Years Later). The latter was praised for its more accurate portrayal of the original comics and became a Certified Fresh fan favorite, due to its dynamic action and deadpan humor.
Details about the new film’s plot remain under wraps, but the project is reportedly being developed as a high-concept sci-fi blockbuster. The team behind it hopes the film will kickstart a larger Dredd franchise, potentially expanding into other films and streaming projects.

After years of development, Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series is finally moving forward. The long-anticipated adaptation of Ubisoft’s blockbuster video game franchise now has Roberto Patino (DMZ, Zero Day, Westworld) and David Wiener (Homecoming, Brave New World, Fear the Walking Dead) on board as creators, showrunners, and executive producers.
“We’ve been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its release in 2007,” said Wiener and Patino. “Beneath the scope, the spectacle, the parkour and the thrills is a baseline for the most essential kind of human story—about people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith. It is about power and violence and sex and greed and vengeance. But more than anything, this is a show about the value of human connection, across cultures, across time. And it’s about what we stand to lose as a species, when those connections break. We’ve got an amazing team behind us with the folks at Ubisoft and our champions at Netflix, and we’re committed to creating something undeniable for fans all over the planet.”
With over 230 million copies sold, Assassin’s Creed has been one of gaming’s most successful franchises since its launch in 2007. The most recent game, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, launched in 2025. This will be the first live-action series under Netflix and Ubisoft’s partnership, which has already produced several animated projects, such as Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix and the upcoming Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. Other adaptations of the fan-favorite video game include 2016’s Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender.
The upcoming live-action series will explore the iconic battle between the Assassins and the Templars, following characters through major historical events as they fight over the fate of humanity in order to track down powerful artifacts known as the Pieces of Eden. Netflix’s Peter Friedlander praised the show as “an epic adventure that both honors the legacy of the Assassin’s Creed franchise and invites longtime fans and newcomers alike to experience the thrill of the Brotherhood as never before.” Ubisoft Film & Television’s Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill have been added as executive producers alongside Gerard Guillemot and Matt O’Toole.
The cast and release date are currently unknown, but by the looks of it, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed series is slated to be one of the biggest video game TV adaptations we’ve ever seen.

Dr. Seuss’ beloved 1990 book Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is being adapted into one of Hollywood’s most anticipated animated films. Ariana Grande and Josh Gad have just been announced as the lead voice actors via a social media post by Warner Bros.
Published a year before Dr. Seuss’ passing, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! follows a young adventurer as they navigate the ups and downs of life. The musical adaptation is being produced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and is set to hit theaters in IMAX on March 17, 2028.
The film will be co-directed by Jon M. Chu and Jill Culton. Known for Crazy Rich Asians and Wicked, Chu has built a reputation for creating blockbuster hits. His next film, Wicked: For Good, a sequel to the 2024 hit starring Grande and Cynthia Erivo, is slated for release on November 21, 2025, following the first film’s impressive $700 million global box office performance. Culton, an experienced animator, is known for creating characters and storylines for films such as Monsters, Inc., A Bug’s Life, and Toy Story 2.

After years of eager anticipation, the beloved medical comedy Scrubs from the 2000s is officially making its way back to television. While the revival has been known to be in development since December 2024, fans now finally get their first glimpse of which original cast members are coming back. The show will feature a blend of familiar faces alongside new characters when it premieres in the 2025-26 season on ABC.
Original star Zach Braff is already on board, joined by fellow original cast members Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, who will reprise their iconic roles as John “JD” Dorian, Chris Turk, and Elliot Reid. Reports indicate that additional original cast members are likely to return, much to the excitement of longtime fans.
In the reboot, JD (Braff) and Turk (Faison) will scrub in together again after some time apart. Although medicine and the interns have changed, their friendship remains as strong as ever. Alongside returning favorites, fresh faces will navigate the halls of Sacred Heart.
Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, both veterans of the original Scrubs writing team, will serve as executive producers and showrunners for the revival. Bill Lawrence will executive produce through his Doozer Productions, with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also on board. Braff, Faison, and Chalke will join the production team as executive producers as well.
“Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together,” Lawrence shared, reflecting the enthusiasm driving the project.
Originally, Scrubs aired for nine seasons from 2001 to 2010, seven seasons on NBC and the last two on ABC. The series chronicled JD’s journey from a medical intern to an experienced doctor, alongside his best friend Turk and on-again, off-again partner Elliot. The original cast also featured Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley, Neil Flynn, and Ken Jenkins, many of whom remain fan favorites. Fans hope the reboot can honor the spirit of the original while introducing Sacred Heart to a whole new generation.

After turning Night at the Museum into one of the most successful family film franchises of the 21st century, 21 Laps Entertainment is officially developing a reimagining for 20th Century Studios. Screenwriter Tripper Clancy has been tapped to pen the new installment, featuring an all-new storyline and cast of characters.
Plot details are still unknown, but the new film will mark a fresh chapter for the franchise, which originated in 2006 and is based on Milan Trenc’s 1993 children’s book. 21 Laps co-founders Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will return to produce, with Emily Morris overseeing the project for the company. Levy previously directed and produced all three live-action films in the original trilogy, which starred Ben Stiller and grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide. Clancy, a WGA Award winner, frequently collaborates with 21 Laps. He previously served as co-executive producer on Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This.
The announcement of the Night at the Museum reboot follows a successful year for 21 Laps, whose Deadpool & Wolverine became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, surpassing $1.3 billion at the global box office. The company is also preparing to release the fifth and final season of Stranger Things on Netflix later this year.
The Night at the Museum franchise has remained a fan favorite since the first film hit theaters in 2006. The trilogy — Night at the Museum, Battle of the Smithsonian, and Secret of the Tomb — features a star-studded cast including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, and Amy Adams. In 2022, Disney+ released Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, an animated feature produced by Levy.
No release date has been announced for the upcoming reboot, but fans can expect it to be just as adventure-filled as the original trilogy.
