Born 1970, in Helsingborg, Sweden, Oscar was one of the founding editors of Empire Australia magazine, and continues as Contributing Editor of Australia's premiere film magazine.
He has reviewed and written film features for a wide range of outlets, including Urban Cinefile,
ABC Radio and Network Ten. He co-founded legendary street magazine Revolver (now The Brag).
He is currently also film and features writer for FHM Australia, and recently began work as ‘Captain’ of SCI FI Channel Australia’s website, www.scifitv.com.au, where he can fully indulge the iridescent Sci Fi geek streak that he occasionally brings to Empire.
He has been a member of Australia’s FIPRESCI affiliate, the FCCA, for over a decade, and is a member of the Film Advisory Panel for the Sydney Film Festival.
Before becoming a film critic, Oscar began an award-winning career in advertising, but then
returned to university to prepare the obvious move to performance poet and playwright, with moderately inauspicious results. He has written, directed and produced several short films. His interests in film extend across a vast spectrum, and he has developed a reputation for concise, witty analysis, a playfulness with words and a flair for vicious humour.
