Wednesday seems to be Casting Announcement Day this week — no sooner do we learn that Anton Yelchin will be joining the cast of Star Trek XI do we receive word of the latest addition to the cast of Zack Snyder‘s Watchmen. Guess who’ll be playing Sally Jupiter, A.K.A. the Silk Spectre?

If you guessed “Carla Gugino,” then you get an invisible gold star for the day, because according to ComingSoon, that’s exactly who’s been cast as the story’s costumed adventurer/sex symbol. The role will call for Gugino to portray Jupiter at a variety of ages — both in her crimefighting prime and later in life, when her daughter Laurie (to be played by Malin Akerman) assumes the Silk Spectre identity.

Gugino joins a cast that already includes Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson, and Jackie Earle Haley. Let’s say it together, with feeling: We are so there.
