Last week we tracked the first Tomatometer calculation for "V For Vendetta" — and as more reviews trickle in, it’s only getting better.
With only a week to go before the Natalie Portman–Hugo Weaving anarchic comic adaptation hits theaters, the web is abuzz with speculation about just how good the pic will be. Since our last update, when "Vendetta"’s Tomatometer was at a marginal 60%, more critics have chimed in and upped the rating to a decisive (as of yet) 78%, with 9 reviews in.
Sure, 9 reviews ain’t a lot, but consider the sources and judge for yourself; do you trust the opinions of these scribes?
"It’s an amazing movie. Not in exactly the way The Matrix was (how tired would that be?), but in a new way. It’s a fascinating picture, dark and exciting, and it will almost certainly be an enormous hit."
– Kurt Loder, MTV
"The most faithful and literal adaptation of an Alan Moore graphic novel…a potent combination of action, emotion and wry political commentary."
– Edward Douglas, Comingsoon.net
"Although often visually striking and undercoated by a compelling sci-fi concept, graphic-novel adaptation V for Vendetta feels flat as a storyboard."
– Leslie Felperin, VARIETY
