Sources close to the big screen adaptation of the musical "Hairspray" are saying that John Travolta has the inside track to play the role of Edna Turnbald, Variety reports. New Line Cinema did not confirm this, but the news that screenwriter Leslie Dixon is writing the script adds fuel to the rumor. She co-wrote the screenplay to Travolta’s 1993 "Look Who’s Talking Now." "Hairspray" is expected to shoot in September. Travolta can be seen in "Be Cool," the sequel to his 1995 comedy "Get Shorty," on March 4th.
