Stars from CW’s The Vampire Diaries swept into the Dolby Theater — much to the delight of 3,000 screaming fans. Cast members Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore), Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) and Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) were there, along with producers Julie Plec and Caroline Dries. E! reporter Kristin Dos Santos moderated.
Here are eight burning questions answered by the cast:
1. How do those shirts rip off during scenes between Damon and Elena?
According to Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon, it’s all Nina. She just does it.
2. Is there hope for ‘Stelena?’
Yes, there is good stuff in the upcoming episode (directed by Wesley) which will be reminiscent of season one.
3. Will ‘Delena’ get back together?
Somerhalder answered, “Why would you ever wish that on this amazing human being?” — to which an audience member screamed that she’d do it. Somerhalder replied, “Trust me: you don’t want to live with me, honey.”
4. Where’s Katherine?
Dries said, “We thought it was pretty obvious what happened to her.” As for whether or not Katherine will be back? “Never say never.”
5. Is Caroline going to The Originals?
Taking Caroline off of Vampire Diaries would be “very damaging to that show,” according to Julie Plec. Somerhalder chimed in, “We are not losing Caroline to the damn Originals. No way in hell.”
6. Who stays and who goes (and then comes back)?
Plec educated the audience on the process of eliminating characters from the story: “Most characters — most new characters — are created to die. Their death and their return can be earned by a lot of things. One is fandom that doesn’t want to let go of a character. A writer, or team of writers, that doesn’t want to let go of a character. A story where someone’s death and resurrection actually plays into the story and overall narrative. And then occasionally there’s someone who wants to leave the show and you gotta let them go.”
7. Who will Elena pick in the end?
Dobrev said that the guys have put Elena through enough, joking that her character’s going to become a lesbian.
8. Will we see more of Stefan and Caroline?
According to Plec, they “go through some stuff together” in the next couple of episodes.
