The Latest On "Wolverine," "X-Men" Spinoffs

It looks like the next "X-Men"- related film will be "Wolverine," but "X-3" director Brett Ratner told IGN FilmForce he’d love to make a fourth "X-Men" as well. Meanwhile, co-creator Stan Lee said the X-Men universe is diverse enough to yield a number of spinoffs — including films about such characters as Magneto.

"[The "X-Men" films] can go in any direction," Lee told USA Today. "The next movie will be the Wolverine movie, but after that it is such a wonderful franchise and the beautiful thing about it is they could do a movie featuring Magneto or Xavier or any of the other X-Men. There are so many characters and they are complex."

In addition, "Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman told ComicsContinuum.com that he would like the film — a prequel to the "X-Men" films — to establish a different tone and stand apart from the series.

"I want to make a piece that’s in every way — stylistically and character-wise — that’s different, that shows new stuff," he said.
