No. 1

Cobra Kai: Season 6 (2024)

Premiere Date: July 18, 2024 on Netflix

Topping July’s list is The Karate Kid’s widely acclaimed successor, Cobra Kai. Returning to Netflix for its sixth and final season, the Emmy-nominated series follows the Cobra Kai dojo 34 years after the events of the original film. The series, starring Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and Xolo Maridueña, quickly became a fan favorite after its first few seasons and will pick up in the aftermath of the All Valley Championship. Consisting of 15 episodes, the newest season of Cobra Kai will be released in three parts with the first five episodes premiering on July 18.

No. 2

Lady in the Lake: Season 1 (2024)

Premiere Date: June 13, 2024 on Apple TV+

In a change of pace, a 1960s murder mystery takes second on the list. Set at the height of the civil rights movement, Lady in the Lake finds Natalie Portman playing Maddie Schwartz, an investigative journalist passionate about solving the disappearance of a young Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram). The suspenseful Apple TV+ original will premiere its first two episodes on July 19 with subsequent releases happening weekly each Friday.

Premiere Date: July 24, 2024 on Apple TV+

Behind Cobra Kai and Lady in the Lake is a TV adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits. A fantasy adventure taking viewers through the space/time continuum, the series follows a ragtag group of bandits led by Lisa Kudrow as they uncover information about the world’s history that may threaten its future. Directed by Academy Award-winner Taika Waititi, Time Bandits’ first season consists of 10 episodes and will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 24.

Premiere Date: July 25, 2024 on Netflix

Witnessing that shows surrounding royalty tend to do well (see Bridgerton, The Crown, and House of the Dragon, just to name a few), it’s not surprising that a new majestic offering sits at fourth on the list. Netflix’s The Decameron unfolds as the Black Plague ravages through Europe in the middle of the 14th century. The nobles of Florence flee their estates and head for the countryside with their servants to drink wine, have sex, and avoid the plague. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio’s short stories brought to life on screen, but Netflix hopes its darkly comedic take on the material will earn new fans when it debuts on July 25.

No. 5

Snowpiercer: Season 4 (2024)

Premiere Date: July 16, 2024 on AMC

Rounding off the list for July is the final season of Snowpiercer. In its first 3 seasons, the series followed a post-apocalyptic group of voyagers traveling the earth’s frozen terrain aboard a steam engine, searching for any signs of remaining life. The series’ fourth season will pick up with the travelers on their final excursion across the globe, beginning on July 16, with episodes releasing weekly on Tuesdays.
