Where does "Spider-Man 3" baddie Venom get his powers? Who might director Sam Raimi keep around for another sequel? Find out in the latest episode of "Spidey" secrets and spoilers!
The guys over at Dark Horizons have their fingers on the pulse of this week’s "Spider-Man" rumors, starting with a revelation by Peter Parker himself, Tobey Maguire, who confirmed to the LA Times that doppelganger Venom indeed comes from another planet: "He has the same kind of attributes that Spider-Man has, but he’s just stronger, faster and more vicious than Spider-Man. And it comes from this goo that comes from outer space, so first the goo comes and gets hold of me."
It’s confirmed: Venom’s goo is alien
Director Sam Raimi also weighs in on further potential sequels (Sony will definitely do more), who probably won’t make it to said sequels (Venom thesp Topher Grace and Sandman Thomas Haden Church), and who will (love interest Bryce Dallas Howard). Watch out Mary Jane!
However, Raimi is careful to say he isn’t a sure thing to return in future sequels. After all, the man does have eight producing projects on the horizon, including vampire graphic novel adaptation "30 Days of Night," holy war graphic novel adaptation "Priest," and another "Evil Dead!"
