"Shaun" Boys are Getting "Hot"

Empire Online scored a solid little scoop that should please all you "Shaun of the Dead" fans out there: Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have finished the screenplay for their cop comedy "Hot Fuzz," and Working Title Films has given the boys the greenlight to begin production in only a few months.

"The British cop action-comedy, written by Pegg and Wright, will star Pegg and Nick Frost as two mismatched cops who team up in a West Country backwater.

"We’ve actually been writing it for most of the year!" Pegg added. "We’ve been working so hard on it. It’s such a complex script… It’s been a far more intensive process than writing Shaun… but I think that what we’ve come up with now is a better script than ‘Shaun of the Dead’, so fingers crossed."

Pegg said that Shane Black has been a big influence. "We watched a hell of a lot of movies before we started writing and his movies have that kind of sass. It’s a tribute to those movies, in a way, like a British Shane Black movie.""
