Peter Jackson, the director of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the forthcoming "King Kong" remake, has signed on to executive produce the effects-heavy "Halo," the movie adaptation of the popular video game title on the Xbox game system. A team from Bungie, the game’s developer, will visit Jackson next week to discuss plans for the movie, IGN FilmForce reports.
How much involvement Jackson has with the movie remains to be seen, but Universal and Fox are in the process of searching for a director. According to Variety, the movie is scheduled for a summer 2007 release. Screenwriter Alex Garland is currently revising the script.
